Consider your own life and the love you have for those closest to you. Because of your love for them, you will tell them things to help them in their life journey. Whether it be a warning or encouragement, a lesson or a kind word, you will speak these words in love.
Some of our greatest accomplishments are what we encourage others to do. “We must also consider how to encourage each other to show love and to do good things” (Hebrews 10:24 NOG).
God loves you more than you can love anyone else. It is in this love that He will give you warnings of dangers, encourage you along the way, teach life lessons, and speak words of kindness to settle your soul. God always has something to tell you.
The problem most of us have is that we willingly sing or study about Him, but we don’t listen to Him. We don’t hear that “…still small voice” (Kings 19:12 NKJV).
What is God trying to tell you? It’s never a question of if He is trying to tell you something, but are you listening? And if you are listening, are you truly discerning His voice so that you will know what it is He is trying to tell you?
When you’re Spirit-led, you’ll never go the wrong way. “You will hear a voice behind you saying, ‘This is the way. Follow it, whether it turns to the right or to the left.’” (Isaiah 30:21 GW).
God can speak to us in many different ways. You may hear His voice out loud or as a faint whisper deep into your heart. He may give you a word through somebody else or come to you in your dreams. Be ready to listen to Him, no matter how He might speak to you.
The more you’re inspired by God, the more you’ll inspire others to do the same. “God speaks in different ways, and we don’t always recognize his voice” (Job 33:14 CEV).
One of the most powerful ways that God speaks to us is in our circumstances. In the good times, and especially in the bad times, consider what it is that God is telling you. Our God is sovereign, so never think your circumstances are by chance.
The Lord is more interested in changing the man than his circumstances. “After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace [who imparts His blessing and favor], who called you to His own eternal glory in Christ, will Himself complete, confirm, strengthen, and establish you [making you what you ought to be]” (1 Peter 5:10 AMP).
We need to know God’s heart so that we can discern His voice. The best way to learn about God’s heart is to read His Word, which came out of His heart. And while you’re in the Word, ask the Holy Spirit to help you understand all that God is saying.
Some of the worst interpretations of God’s Word occur by the intellect of man, void of the Spirit of God. “But you have an anointing from the Holy One [you have been set apart, specially gifted and prepared by the Holy Spirit], and all of you know [the truth because He teaches us, illuminates our minds, and guards us from error]” (1 John 2:20 AMP).
What is God trying to tell you right now? Perhaps you’re suffering. God does some of the greatest work in His children as they suffer. Too often, we focus only on what is wrong, and we miss what He is trying to accomplish.
In your suffering, look forward to what God is trying to teach you. “He delivers the afflicted in their affliction and opens their ears [to His voice] in adversity” (Job 36:15 AMPC).
I have been battling an incredibly painful disease, and my wife told me, “God must have some good plans ahead for you.” She is listening to God. She is aware that God does not make our path easy because an easy path wouldn’t make us any better.
Until you learn to trust God in your suffering, the lesson is not yet over. “Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him” (Job 13:15 NKJV).
What is God trying to tell you when one door slams shut in your face? You had imagined He would make your calling easier, and instead, it seems He only allows obstacles in your path. Perhaps He is telling you to prove just how obedient you need to be to serve Him.
One person’s obstacle is another person’s stepping stone. “For by You I can run at a troop of warriors; and by my God I can leap over a wall” (Psalm 18:29 NASB).
What is God trying to tell you through your failures? Perhaps His message is that you need to learn to rely on Him more and trust yourself less. Sometimes it’s in our failures that we gain the best lessons on how we can be changed.
Until you learn to fail with dignity, you will never be able to succeed with humility. Jesus told Peter before Peter failed Him, “But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren” (Luke 22:32 NKJV). Consider your failures are the preparation for your ministry.
Child of God, what is God trying to tell you? If you’re not sure, ask Him. Pray to be more sensitive to His voice and His leading. Don’t expect anything more than a single word, but know that word can change your life forever.
The leading of the Lord is reserved for those who are willing to follow. “For all who are allowing themselves to be led by the Spirit of God are sons of God” (Romans 8:14 AMP).

How do you know if it is God speaking in your heart and not “yourself” talking to your head?…not sure that’s clear, but how do I know if it’s me out of guilt, eagerness or some other human thot process or the Holy Spirit? I know this is poorly written, hopefully you will understand.
That is a very wise thing to consider. We know that we can be deceived and so need to be on guard against it. One of the greatest ways for me to know if it is the Lord speaking is to know the Word, what He has already said before. We need to compare a word with the authentic to know if it is a counterfeit. Another thing that always makes me be much more careful is does the word I heard agree with what my flesh wants, or does it puff up my pride, or fit neatly into the plans that sound good to me. It does not mean that God will always say what we don’t want top hear, but the fact is. often He does. If we won’t hear His convictions, then we won’t hear Him at all. Stay in prayer and also ask for confirmations. Find a trusted man or woman of God you can get wise counsel from on things you have hear. Beware anything that sounds too good, and be ready to accept any criticism the Lord may have against you. Hope this helps.
