Revelations from the Holy Spirit

There are some things that we can discover and learn with our own power and intellect. God gave us these natural abilities to discover much on our own, but to learn spiritual things, we need a spiritual teacher, the Spirit of God.

Spiritual discernment doesn’t come by the natural reasoning of man but by the Spirit of God. “But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned” (1 Corinthians 2:14 NKJV).

We can only grasp what is natural with our natural minds. We can only reach natural heights when we are using natural methods. In the natural, we are the limit of us, and we can only go as far as our own natural abilities will take us.

God’s mysteries can only be understood through divine revelations. “Call to me, and I will answer you. I will tell you great and mysterious things that you do not know” (Jeremiah 33:3 GW).

To gain supernatural revelations requires supernatural help that must come from beyond our own natural abilities. God sent His Holy Spirit to help us in ways we could never help ourselves. The Holy Spirit has no limits and can grasp all things, even the deep things of God.

Bring the divine into your natural life, and watch the supernatural things that will happen. However, as the scripture says, ‘What no one ever saw or heard, what no one ever thought could happen, is the very thing God prepared for those who love him.’ But it was to us that God made known his secret by means of his [Holy] Spirit. The [Holy] Spirit searches everything, even the hidden depths of God’s purposes” (1 Corinthians 2:9-10 GNT).

Revelations from the Holy Spirit can teach us what we could never learn with our own limitations. The Holy Spirit can reach into the mind of God and reveal secrets from heaven that can be discovered in no other way.

You can never understand a spiritual truth with natural reasoning because you’re operating in the wrong realm. “And we speak about these things, not with words taught us by human wisdom but with words taught us by the [Holy] Spirit. And so we explain spiritual truths to spiritual people. A person who does not have the Spirit does not accept the truths that come from the Spirit of God. That person thinks they are foolish and cannot understand them, because they can only be judged to be true by the Spirit” (1 Corinthians 2:13-14 NCV).

Revelations from the Holy Spirit can show us ourselves as we could never see apart from the Spirit of God. The Holy Spirit peers deep into our hearts and weighs our motives and sees our ways as we could never understand them apart from God.

Let God show you what doesn’t belong in your life and then let Him help you to remove it. “Search me, God, and know my heart; put me to the test and know my anxious thoughts; and see if there is any hurtful way in me, and lead me in the everlasting way” (Psalm 139:23-24 NASB).

Revelations from the Holy Spirit can teach us how to do things in the natural realm, but also using supernatural wisdom and enlightenment. This enables us to see things with revelation light so that we can see with greater clarity and understanding.

You don’t need to search afar to discover more truth, but pray that the Holy Spirit would reveal all that is before you. Pray, “that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened” (Ephesians 1:17-18 NKJV).

Revelations from the Holy Spirit can show you the hearts of other people, looking past the masks that they wear and showing you their true intentions. There are some secrets God gives you, not to share with others, but to warn you.

When God gives you a dream, it is not for your entertainment. “Then, being divinely warned in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed for their own country another way” (Matthew 2:12 NKJV).

The Lord Jesus promised that the Holy Spirit could teach us all things, but consider what areas of your life you have yielded to the Holy Spirit so He could teach you what to do or what to say. You must be willing to learn to be taught.

Some of you need deliverance from your stack of books. It is good to study the things of man, but without the Holy Spirit, you will never understand the things of God. The Lord Jesus taught, “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things…” (John 14:26 NKJV).

Revelations may be to show you what will happen in the future, either to you, to those you love, or to other people. We don’t have to fear the unknown, and we don’t have to fear the known, but only trust that the Lord is always with us.

The reason so few hear from the Holy Spirit is that so few believe that He will talk to them. Jesus taught, “But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come” (John 16:13 NASB).

Revelations from the Holy Spirit will flow more as you yield more to the Spirit of God in your life. Our spiritual life will grow more as we lower the natural life we were born into. If we were to deny our flesh, then our spirit would be free to flourish.

Starve the flesh and feed the spirit. “Anna, a prophetess, was there at the Temple. …she never left. She worshiped God by fasting and praying day and night” (Luke 2:36-37 ERV).

To hear the Spirit of God more clearly, you must reduce the noise of your natural mind with your selfish thoughts and busy little lives. Set yourself apart, and it will be there you can get closer to God and hear the whispers of heaven deep into your spirit.

You will not walk in your anointing until you first sit in His presence. “But you have an anointing from the Holy One [you have been set apart, specially gifted and prepared by the Holy Spirit], and all of you know [the truth because He teaches us, illuminates our minds, and guards us from error]” (1 John 2:20 AMP).

People want a program, but God wants your heart. There is no program that can show you how to give your heart to God; you must simply do it. Jesus said if you loved Him, you would obey Him. Start there, grow in your love for Jesus.

You only get revelation while resting because it can only be received and not attained. “That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him” (Ephesians 1:17 NKJV).

Blessings to you always,

Paul Balius

  1. This post is so true and accurate. Jeremiah 33:3 is a scripture that invites us to go deep into Spiritual unity with the Holy Spirit. If we find ourselves waking up in early morning at 03:33 or just happened to repeatedly see 3:33 in the afternoon, can it be that this is an invitation to press into the deeper things of God. To do so as pointed out in this posting, you must enter a place of rest, body, soul, mind, and spirit. What an honor to be shown the deep things of God’s plans and purposes, 1 Corinthians 2:9-10. If shown the faults of another the purposes of God are always toward restoration, that is why mature intercessors spend much time interceding and not talking to others about divine revelations of others. It takes character to use revelations of others to align with the heart of God.

    1. I really loved what you wrote, especially this: “It takes character to use revelations of others to align with the heart of God.” I think it’s so important that we do exactly what you wrote, to align ourselves with the heart of God. It will be there that we can be sure we are in His will. Blessings to you!
