The Meaning of Life

The meaning of life is to live out that purpose for which God created you for. Just as the sun was meant to give warmth, we are meant to pour out all that God has put within us. You are a unique creation of God meant to live a life He has fashioned for you.

Dare to become that man or woman that God wants you to be. “God has made us what we are. In Christ Jesus, God made us new people so that we would do good works. God had planned in advance those good works for us. He had planned for us to live our lives doing them” (Ephesians 2:10 ICB).

The meaning of life is to reach the potential of what God created you to be. The closer you reach your potential, the greater you will fulfill the meaning of your life. You will never reach your God-given potential without God’s help, for that was His plan all along.

You can live higher than you do if you’d only let God help you. “For it is [not your strength, but it is] God who is effectively at work in you, both to will and to work [that is, strengthening, energizing, and creating in you the longing and the ability to fulfill your purpose] for His good pleasure” (Philippians 2:13 AMP).

The meaning of life is to touch the lives of others in a way that pleases God. No life is created, and no life is formed in isolation. Everything we say or do has an effect on the lives around us. Though we fail often, let it be our life mission to do better.

Look for the best in others, and you will surely find it. “Love each other in a way that makes you feel close like brothers and sisters. And give each other more honor than you give yourself” (Romans 12:10 ERV).

The meaning of life is to have a life of prayer. We were meant to be in such a tight union with Christ that His very life would be in us. The closer you are to Christ, the more His life will change you. Your best is His best in you.

When your life is a prayer, the Lord will always be near you. “Make your life a prayer” (1 Thessalonians 5:17 TPT).

The meaning of life here on earth is to prepare you for that higher life you will someday have in heaven. This life you have now is the opening act and just a precursor to the main event. Your life on earth is a small dot on an eternal line that stretches out forever.

It would be better to die right than to live wrong. “He died for all so that all who live—having received eternal life from him—might live no longer for themselves, to please themselves, but to spend their lives pleasing Christ who died and rose again for them” (2 Corinthians 5:15 TLB).

The meaning of life is to live a life that blesses others. Selflessness is love, and sacrifice is love on fire. The more you help others in your life, the more meaning your life will have. You were meant for something higher than only caring about yourself.

The greatest blessing is to be a blessing. “The person who blesses others will prosper; he who satisfies others will be satisfied himself” (Proverbs 11:25 CJB).

The meaning of life is to reflect the Lord in everything you do. Just as the moon reflects the glory of the light from the sun, so your life should reflect the glory that shines forth from the Lord. The greatest thing you can accomplish is to reflect what the Lord has accomplished.

Jesus saved you in a moment but will change you over a lifetime. “We can all draw close to him with the veil removed from our faces. And with no veil we all become like mirrors who brightly reflect the glory of the Lord Jesus. We are being transfigured into his very image as we move from one brighter level of glory to another. And this glorious transfiguration comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” (2 Corinthians 3:18 TPT).

The meaning of life is to prepare your soul to live forever in heaven. Live your life on earth, letting go of what does not belong in heaven and taking hold of everything that does belong there. Live higher each day so that the distance from earth to heaven becomes ever smaller.

Jesus did not call you out of darkness to remain in the shadows. Stop living the half-baked Christian life and thinking that it is good enough. Good enough for what? Our goal should not be just to get to heaven but to be filled with heaven here on earth. “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light” (1 Peter 2:9 NKJV).

The meaning of life is to praise the Lord for giving you the life you have. When you express thanks to God, you will be pleasing Him for all that He has done. His plans for you were made before time existed, and He always knew you and loved you from the beginning.

Thankfulness is a choice. “Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus” (1 Thessalonians 5:18 NLT).

The meaning of life is not a mystery but a wonderful melody of living your life each day with God. The revelation of life is that it came from God and was made for God, and it will return to God to live forever. Never underestimate your value to the Lord.

You were created by an extraordinary God to be an extraordinary person. “I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well” (Psalm 139:14 NKJV).

Blessings to you always,

Paul Balius

  1. This very day I was thinking specifically that I came out from/was brought forth from our all-glorious God and that I, as an individual creation of His, am His idea, His intimate ideation, His radiation, royal and righteous. Paul brother beloved, your writings I thank our Savior King consistently convey cogently the meaning of life. Alleluia!

    1. I find it interesting that much of the world searches their entire lives for the meaning of life, and all the while God’s creation screams out to them, the One who created the heavens created you, and your life is meant to be filled with Him.
