No matter how far you have come in your life, there yet remains more to be done. There may be things about you that you have wanted to change for years but have been unable to make any progress. Keep your chin up, Christian, for you can most certainly be changed.
God made you, be sure He can change you. “Yes, it is God who is working in you. He helps you want to do what pleases him, and he gives you the power to do it” (Philippians 2:13 ERV).
If you want to change yourself, then you will have to let God help you. You must confess that you are unable to change yourself and then humbly put yourself into His hands. You can’t lift yourself one inch, but if you kneel down, it will be there that He can lift you a mile.
To change a lot, change a little. “Don’t be like the people of this world, but let God change the way you think. Then you will know how to do everything that is good and pleasing to him” (Romans 12:2 CEV).
Don’t set a date in the future for what you should have done months or even years ago. The best time to begin a change is right now. Write down some things you want to be changed in yourself, then make your requests known to God.
Stop putting off until tomorrow what you should have done years ago. “Let the Spirit change your way of thinking and make you into a new person. You were created to be like God, and so you must please him and be truly holy” (Ephesians 4:23-24 CEV).
Stop trying to change someone else to bring about a change you want. Look to yourself and ask God to change you, for it is only you that you can give over to Him. Set boundaries as you must, but seek change from God within yourself.
Don’t only ask God to change your circumstances but to have your circumstances change you. “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28 NKJV).
You can’t change yourself by yourself because you only conspire to stay the same. It takes the God who made you to change you, and to do so, it may just have to hurt. Don’t squander the pain that is meant to form you into something that pleases the Lord.
Stop making it so hard for God to change you. “But the jar he [the potter] was making did not turn out as he had hoped, so he crushed it into a lump of clay again and started over. Then the Lord gave me this message: ‘O Israel, can I not do to you as this potter has done to his clay? As the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are you in my hand.'” (Jeremiah 18:4-6 NLT).
Pray to God to change a thing in you, and then let Him decide how He will do it. Your work is to surrender, and His work is to change you. If you’re not sure He can do it, then you have no idea of just how powerful God really is.
You’d be shocked at how much God can change you once you let Him. “Then the Spirit of the Lord will come upon you mightily, and you will show yourself to be a prophet with them; and you will be turned into another man” (1 Samuel 10:6 AMPC).
Nobody is so weak that His power cannot change them. The change isn’t about what you can do but what you will allow Him to do. The hardest thing for a believer to do is to believe. Your faith is proven by what you can believe He can do.
If you really want to change then just ask God to help you. “Ask and keep on asking and it will be given to you; seek and keep on seeking and you will find; knock and keep on knocking and the door will be opened to you” (Matthew 7:7 AMP).
If God can create all the galaxies with one word, imagine what He can do for you. He can accomplish more in one second than you can do in a lifetime, and yet there you are, trying to do things without Him. It’s at the end of you that you will find the beginning with Him.
It takes the God who created you to change you. “I will put my Spirit inside you and change you so that you will obey my laws. You will carefully obey my commands.” (Ezekiel 36:27 ERV).
What impossible thing is it that you are trying to change in yourself? Give it to God, for He specializes in the impossible. You can’t change yourself much at all, but you can be changed by Him to levels you never imagined were possible.
You are not impossible to change because nothing is impossible for God. “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26).
God expects more out of you, so He put the Holy Spirit in you to help you. Where is the evidence of the Holy Spirit in you? The fruit out of your life is the evidence of the Lord in your life. Ask God to change you starting today, and then watch all that He will do.
If you can believe God can change you, then He will. “Jesus said to him, ‘If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes'” (Mark 9:23 NKJV).
Let today be the day that you let God change you.
Blessings to you always,
Paul Balius
