He Has You

A week before my book The Promise of the Holy Spirit was due to the editor, I had a word from the Holy Spirit of something I needed to include. The chapter I ended up adding was called, Convicted by the Holy Spirit.

In the book, I only included the very first part of the words that I heard that day from the Holy Spirit and have kept the rest until now. This was a long word, so this part below is the third part; the second was in last week’s blog. Here is what I recorded word for word below. I have added some verses, as the Word is our plumbline of truth.

We think that our ministries are just going to grow.

“Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria and preached Christ to them. And the multitudes with one accord heeded the things spoken by Philip, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did” (Acts 8:5-6 NKJV).

We look at Philip, he was having a great revival, and God said, “oh, you’re doing really good there, look at all those people, why don’t you go out into the country, and I’ve got this one guy who needs to be saved, and you’ll see him, he is on a chariot.”

“Now an angel of the Lord spoke to Philip, saying, ‘Arise and go toward the south…’ …behold, a man of Ethiopia, a eunuch…sitting in his chariot, he was reading Isaiah the prophet. Then the Spirit said to Philip, ‘Go near and overtake this chariot.’” (Acts 8:26,29 NKJV).

So, Philip goes out there, and there is the guy reading the Bible, and he doesn’t know what it means, and so Philip gave him a word, baptized him, and that man entered into salvation. We don’t know what happened to that man, but God knows.

That man was a eunuch, and a eunuch had favor in the courts of the royalty which they served. He was from another nation. Philip created a missionary, a man of influence. One man. 

You see, we don’t need to touch a thousand people, but one, the one right person. You think that maybe you are going to be that one person (who will touch many). Maybe you are the person who touches that one person. Does it really matter? You see, that is your pride. Your pride tells you, “I want it to be me, Lord, that touches millions.” But what the Lord is looking for is that one person who will say, “not my will, but Your will.”

“Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves” (Philippians 2:3 NLT).

Lord, if You want me to only influence one person that touches millions, and then their name will be remembered, so be it, Lord. But let me be ready, let me be willing to talk to that person, not only to tell them how great they are, but to tell them how screwed up they are.

You see, we think when we lift people up, we are doing them a favor. But sometimes, we lift them up and ruin them. What we need to do is tell them where they are messing up. Don’t let your head get so big. It’s a problem, big heads. Big heads make shallow hearts. Big hearts make holy heads.

If you want to change a man, you have to change the way he thinks. “For as he thinks within himself, so he is” (Proverbs 23:7 NASB).

If you want to alter the course of history, you yourself must alter your course.

Don’t wait. Don’t wait, imagining that something will just fall into your lap. But seek a thing out.

Ask, and it will be given to you, knock, and it will be opened. But you have to be asking and knocking for the right things. And if the door doesn’t open, that means one of two things: that’s not the door for you to go in, or the Lord wants to see how serious you are about it.

“Keep asking, and it will be given to you; keep seeking, and you will find; keep knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who keeps asking receives; he who keeps seeking finds; and to him who keeps knocking, the door will be opened” (Matthew 7:7-8 CJB).

Seek Him, ask Him, Lord, is this the door you would have me go in? Sometimes it’s not. Sometimes it’s not the right door. It’s ok. Keep knocking anyway until you find the right door. You see, the idea is not to stop knocking, but to start knocking on the right door. 

Sometimes the Lord does not have you go down a certain path, not because you are not gifted in that area, but because you are gifted in that area. He doesn’t want you to take the glory because whenever we take the glory, it is to our ruin.

Jesus promised, “He [The Holy Spirit] will come to convict the world of sin, to show the world what has God’s approval, and to convince the world that God judges it” (John 16:8 NOG).

Let Him convict you into the man He has always meant for you to be.

Let Him convict you into the path that He has for you.

Let Him convict you into what you’re supposed to do in your life.

Let Him convict you into Humility.

Let Him convict you into that sweet saint He wants you to be.

Let Him convict you into that forgiving saint.

Let Him convict you into that saint that can be useful in His hands.

Let Him convict you to do what is right in His eyes.

Let Him convict you out of your pride and into His service.

Let Him convict you out of your selfishness and into His selfless life.

Let Him convict you out of your one plan, your one dream, the way you think things should go.

That was it. That is all I got. I pray it would be as much of a blessing for you as it was for me.
