There is nothing impossible for God – not even you.
If you want to grow higher in your faith, you must believe in this truth: “God can change you.” He can make you into something new. The God who created you is the same God who can remake you. It doesn’t matter where you are now, but only that you turn to Him. He loves you just as you are and will, by the power of His Spirit within you, change you into something new.
If you can believe that God can change you, then He will. “Jesus said to him, ‘If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes’” (Mark 9:23 NKJV).
His nature can change your nature. “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh” (Ezekiel 36:26 NKJV).
Many of us get trapped in a cycle of failures and think we will never escape them. We long to be somewhere better but have no idea how we might get there. We want to live higher than we do but continue to walk in the low places. Just because you can’t see the way out doesn’t mean it isn’t there.
It is not a question of God’s ability to change you, but your willingness to let Him. “for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure” (Philippians 2:13 NKJV).
In however you are failing God – He can forgive you. In whatever sin you are in – He can yet rescue you out of it. No matter your weakness, His strength is always enough. The secret to overcoming sin is in being overcome by the power of God within you, and then it will be by His strength you can get the victory.
In however you need to change – start from where you are. “Cast away from you all the transgressions which you have committed, and get yourselves a new heart and a new spirit” (Ezekiel 18:31 NKJV).
God changes those who let Him. “…If you choose to love sin, it will become your master… But if you choose to love and obey God, he will lead you into perfect righteousness” (Romans 6:16 TPT).
We think that having faith means we must have it together, but still we continue to live a life falling apart. We want to be whole in our life but cannot see how we can put the broken pieces back together. Just because your broken doesn’t mean you have to stay that way.
God created you – be sure that He can change you. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17 NKJV).
It is in our brokenness that the Lord can reach us and put us back together. It is when we are crushed that He will then form us into what He has intended for us to be all along. The Lord looks for those who are weak because it is those few who will let Him be their strength.
When you’re weak before God, He will be your strength before men. “He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength” (Isaiah 40:29 NKJV).
We progress in our faith journey and think we will always ascend higher. But our journey takes us both up the mountains and down into the valleys below. Right when we think we have overcome a thing, then the thing will turn around and overcome us. But though we fall, we must always get back up.
It does not matter as much how many times you fall, but how many times you get back up. “For though the righteous one may fall seven times, he gets up again…” (Proverbs 24:16 TLV).
We have times of refreshing, and we have times of drought, and each season is there to grow us. We need the sunshine and we need the rain, that our lives would bear fruit for the Father. We need the season before so that the season that follows would fulfill its purpose.
Don’t despise the season you’re in, but only ask God what He would have you do in it. “To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven…a time to break down, and a time to build up” (Ecclesiastes 3:1,3 NKJV).
God can change you. If there is a lack of change in you from God, the problem is with you. It is not that you are too weak but too strong, in that you have not yet surrendered to Him. The promises of God found in His Word say that He can help you. You need to pray and declare these promises over your life right now.
Stop telling God He can’t change you and just let Him. “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and put a new and right spirit within me.” (Psalm 51:10 RSV).
Pray the promises and then trust Him in the process. He can change you, but will you let Him? He can help you have the victory in every battle, but will you call on Him? I don’t care how long you have been failing – you can still have the victory today. Let God help you.
If you want to change your life, let Him. The Lord promises to us, “I will put my Spirit inside you and cause you to live by my laws, respect my rulings and obey them” (Ezekiel 36:27 CJB).
He knows you cannot do it your own, so stop trying to. Be filled with the Holy Spirit.
Blessings to you,
Paul
