The Omniscience of God

One of the attributes of God is His omniscience, which means that He knows all. This “all” includes more than just knowing all the laws of nature and the facts of historical events. This “all” includes all things seen and unseen; natural and spiritual; past, present, and future.

This “all” includes everything that has ever happened to you or ever will. It includes every thought you have ever had and every thought someone has had toward you. It includes your feelings and your fears; your hopes and your dreams; your heartaches and your joys. God knows you deeper and more fully than anyone, including yourself.

“O Yahweh… you know me. You alone know when I sit down and when I get up. You read my thoughts from far away… You are familiar with all my ways.” (Psalm 139:1-3 NOG).

At this very moment, the Lord can feel your first heartbeat and your last. When you say, “only God knows,” you’re right. “Lord, even before I say a word, you already know what I am going to say.” (Psalm 139:4 ICB).

Put your absolute total trust in the Lord, who knows you absolutely. “I cry out to God Most High, to God who fulfills his purpose for me.” (Psalm 57:2 ESV).

One of the greatest frustrations in life is when people don’t understand us. They don’t know all the facts and all that we have been through. And all too often, either they don’t want to know, or we simply cannot share it with them. But with God, He knows all, and He understands us completely. When we pray to God, there is nothing we must hide, and there is nothing He cannot understand.

Never let what people think about you be more important than what God knows about you. “…God is greater than our feelings, and he knows everything.” (1 John 3:20 NLT).

Don’t worry about what others think of you, and instead just focus on being right with God. “There is not one person who can hide their thoughts from God, for nothing that we do remains a secret, and nothing created is concealed, but everything is exposed and defenseless before his eyes, to whom we must render an account” (Hebrews 4:13 TPT).

One of the greatest fears we have is the uncertainty of all that lies ahead. We worry about our health, our finances, our relationships, and the uncertainty that we wake up to every day. It is in this uncertainty where either our faith will grow stronger or our fears will overcome us. Choose faith over fear, and know that the Lord is with you.

God knows your future because He is already there waiting for you. “The high and lofty One who inhabits eternity, the Holy One…” (Isaiah 57:15 TLB).

Everything that will happen, He already knows. God said, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you…” (Jeremiah 1:5 NKJV).

God knows the end before the beginning. “From the beginning I told you what would happen in the end. A long time ago I told you things that have not yet happened. When I plan something, it happens…” (Isaiah 46:10 ICB).

One of our greatest worries is in making the wrong decision that might take us down a difficult path. We are anxious about what to do. But our anxiousness is an option, we can choose to give it to the Lord and have peace, or hold onto it and live in turmoil. Give every anxious thought to Him and He will give you His peace in exchange.

Don’t worry, pray. “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.” (Philippians 4:6 NLT).

There is no problem that God does not know the answer. “Our Lord is great and powerful. There is no limit to what he knows.” (Psalm 147:5 ERV).

God knows the answer before the problem. “…For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him” (Matthew 6:8 NKJV).

One of the greatest mysteries with God is why He allows us to suffer. If He knows everything and is all-powerful, so why does He let us suffer as He does? This mystery will either drive us away from God or towards Him. Learning to trust Him even when it makes no sense will be the foundation upon which your faith will be established. In however you are suffering, learn to trust Him along the way.

Someday God will give you the bottle that holds all your tears, and you will learn what each tear produced in your life. “You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book.” (Psalm 56:8 NLT).

Everything that has happened in your life has happened for a reason. “And we know that all that happens to us is working for our good if we love God and are fitting into his plans” (Romans 8:28 TLB).

Sometimes we worry that God might not still love us if He knew everything about us. Child of God, He loves you more than you know. His love is not dependent on you. He loves you unconditionally and is waiting for you to love Him in return. Learn to believe the promises in the Word that describe how much God loves you.

God will never stop loving you because God is love. “This is love: He loved us long before we loved him. It was his love, not ours. He proved it by sending his Son to be the pleasing sacrificial offering to take away our sins.” (1 John 4:10 TPT).

We think if we will obey, then Jesus will love us. But Jesus loves us as we are. Obedience is the result of us loving Him, not the cause of Him loving us. Jesus said, “If you love Me, show it” (John 14:15 in my own words).

Blessings to you,

  1. As I tead through this blog; I am reasuered of how much God loves me. A few months ago I was reminded to get my life in order and take care of myself. My answere was okay I will, but continued to push myself almost to a breaking point before I claps! Normaly I thought myself strong because I always considerfed God as my provider.
But this time something was different. I had overwhelmed my self multitasking not missing and service and jumping at everyones call and had became so exasted that i really was neclecting my self.

I didn’t understand all of this and why God was not answering. Then when my younger son, who had gone through open heart surgery nine months ago, had another stroke the stress was over the top!
My mind set was numb and headaches, crying out to God and imediate no responce. Than the answer came with me having to go to urgent care with many issues that have keep me away from many projects I was working on.

God had giving me warning in the beginning and I missed it, because I didn’t feel like I need a rest. But the truth is that I had been warking up at 3am after only 4 or 5 hours of rest and working all day from home untill 9pm sometimes 10 none stop. So now I’m finding out the hardway that the warning was for me to stop at the time given. to avoid all the consequences that happen.

Yes, “The Omniscience of God”, touched my heart at a higher level as I realized how much he knows about me and how much I remembered through the day of how he had changed and transformed my live for his glory. We can never out do God. He is everywhere and in my heart. He promised never to leave nor forsake me and I believe it and
    I. will stand on that promise forever.

I am humbled at the opurtunity to share this part and why I have been slowing down in many ways. I have God’s love surrounding me. I will remember that health is very important in order to maintain a productive life. God is not through with me yet. i will continue to spend my rest with God as I continue to be obedient untill fully recovered. Thank You God for the rest that you knew I despertly needed and you Paul for this awesome post that has blessed me!

    1. You are such a blessing to me and I am sure so many others. I pray that you would get the rest you need, only do that which the Lord wills. That you can be an example to those around you of how to rest in the Lord knowing He can do more in our surrender than our overworking self could ever do. Blessings to you.
