Power in the Word

Before I gave my life to Christ, the Holy Spirit guided me to buy a Bible. I was not sure where to begin, so I started on page number one, in the Book of Genesis. Then I started to read. As I read, I began to believe. I didn’t even make it halfway through Genesis and then I gave my life to Jesus. Never underestimate the power in the Word.

“The Bible does not contain the Word of God, it is the Word of God. Supernatural in origin. Eternal in duration. Inexpressible in value. Infinite in scope. Regenerative in power. Infallible in authority. Universal in interest. Personal in application. Inspired in totality.” – Smith Wigglesworth

Child of God, if you want to have power in your life, then you need to fill up your life with the power from the Word of God. If you are not in the Word, then the Word is not in you. “Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You.” (Psalm 119:11).

You must read the Word with reverence, believing every word came from God. “But to this one I will look [graciously], To him who is humble and contrite in spirit, and who [reverently] trembles at My word and honors My commands.” (Isaiah 66:2 AMP).

When you believe the Word came from Him, and you believe upon His promises, it is there that your life will be radically changed and empowered. God gave us promises in the Word, but it is up to us to receive them.

Below is a small excerpt from a message I preached on the Word several years ago. There are some truths from which time cannot diminish and man cannot change.

The Word is all sufficient.

The Word lacks nothing and contains everything.

The Word has every answer for every question.

You cannot reach the Word’s depth nor find its height.

“My word, which comes from my mouth, is like the rain and snow. It will not come back to me without results. It will accomplish whatever I want and achieve whatever I send it to do.” (Isaiah 55:11 NOG).

You can hold the Word in your hands but you can never get your arms around the whole of it.

There is no problem in your life too big or too small for the Word.

“Your words were found, and I consumed them. Your words were joy and my hearts delight, because I bear your name, Lord God of the Heavenly Armies.” (Jeremiah 15:16 ISV).

You can discover everything you ever needed in the Word, yet it will take an eternity and still you will not reach the end.

Oh the depths of His Word, we will never reach the end of all that is contained in Holy Scripture.

“Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, The Creator of the ends of the earth, Neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable.” (Isaiah 40:28).

If you don’t have your foundation on the truth of God’s Word, then you are standing on a lie.

People seek the myths of man over the truths of God. Myths tell man what he wants to hear. God’s Word tells him what he needs to hear.

“One who turns away his ear from hearing the law, Even his prayer is an abomination.” (Proverbs 28:9).

The great tragedy is that the deceived believe it is everyone else who is deceived. That is the mastery of deception, to call the truth a lie that the lie can be thought true.

The wisdom of men will tickle your ears, but the words of Christ will kick you in the stomach.

“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables” (2 Timothy 4:3-4).

Delusion is always grounded in exclusion.

Zealousness is like having a rocket booster, it will take you faster and farther, but if you are pointed the wrong way then how messed up is that?

“The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.” (Deuteronomy 29:29).

It is in the living out of the Word that we prove the Word is living in us.

The world is always trying to change God’s Word, but a saint simply lets the Word of God change them.

“Forever, O Lord, Your word is settled in heaven [standing firm and unchangeable].” (Psalm 119:89 AMP).

Blessings to you,

Paul Balius

  1. Thank you Paul for your messages, that are truly received and have lifted my spirit as I read them. This post spoke volumes to me. I have been going through some storms for the past three weeks. My faith in Christ and all his promises ring in my ears and strengthen me because the Holy Spirit gives me the assurance that He will never leave me nor desert me. I will continue to fight and even if I lose this fight I am confident that Greater is he within me, than he that’s in the wold. My faith stands firm on the foundation of Christ and I will not be moved; for Christ is with me.
Thank You Lord for who you are and all that you continue to do as I wait on you, in Jesus name Amen!

    1. Thank you for your encouragement. Prayers for you in your storm, that God will show you His favor and guide you by His Spirit every step of the way. Praying also for His strength to be in you and His comfort to be over you, in the precious name of Jesus, amen.
