Yahweh Yireh [The Lord Provides]

I am not the smartest believer, I just believe what the Word says. I am not educated enough or smart enough to argue away the power of God. I pray you are not that smart either. It is with a child-like faith that we can rest in the perfect care of our heavenly Father.

You should only worry about those things that you are certain God cannot help you with. “For with God nothing [is or ever] shall be impossible” (Luke 1:37 AMP).

Believe the Word, and the impossible becomes possible. What will you worry about now?

A few years back I was scheduled to go preach in a nearby state prison. I jumped into my car and got onto the freeway, only to come to a complete stop due to traffic. Then I looked down and saw I was completely out of gas.

You must take a step of faith to walk in the kingdom life. “So above all, constantly chase after the realm of God’s kingdom and the righteousness that proceeds from Him. Then all these less important things will be given to you abundantly” (Matthew 6:33 TPT).

We need to start believing that the Word is true.

There I was stuck on a freeway, running late to the service and nowhere near an off-ramp or a gas station. I immediately went into prayer, asking the Lord to help me. That He would provide for me the fuel I needed to get to the prison. That He would open up the traffic that I could get there on time.

God can provide anything you need. He is not the God of scarcity but of abundance. He is not the God of limits but of the unlimited. “Abraham named that place Yahweh Yireh [The Lord Provides]. It is still said today, ‘On the mountain of Yahweh it will be provided’” (Genesis 22:14 NOG).

Sometimes God makes things impossible, so you will know it is by His power that you can prevail.

The only prayer requests answered are prayer requests made. Jesus promised, Stay joined to Me and let My teachings become part of you. Then you can pray for whatever you want, and your prayer will be answered” (John 15:7 CEV).

I kept pressing in with prayer. We need to learn to pray like we mean it. We need to pray like believers.

If you need a miracle, then just pray for one. “Yeshua said to him, ‘As far as possibilities go, everything is possible for the person who believes’” (Mark 9:23 NOG).

What you pray for reveals what you believe.

Stop being such a grown-up Christian and learn to pray like a little child. And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive” (Mt. 21:22 NKJV).

I wanted to serve God mightily in the prison, and if I am going to teach on the power of a God that can do anything, then I better pray as if I believe it. I am convinced that messages spoken apart from faith have little power in them.

If God is your supplier, the provisions never run dry. “Moreover, my God will fill every need of yours according to His glorious wealth, in union with the Messiah Yeshua [Christ Jesus]” (Phil. 4:19 CJB).

Worship the Provider and not the provisions. Desire Him more than His things. Pray for a thing and you may get it. Pray to receive your Abba Father, and you share in the inheritance as a son or daughter.

As I was stopped there on that freeway, I looked down and I saw the gas gauge needle starting to move. The fuel limit was increasing! It passed the empty mark and started filling up more and more. It made it all the way to a quarter tank of gas. I was praising God for His provision!

A powerless theology is always based on the limits of man. “But Jesus looked at them and said, ‘With people [as far as it depends on them] it is impossible, but with God all things are possible’” (Matthew 19:26 AMP).

The word “impossible” does not appear in the dictionaries of heaven.

Then the traffic cleared, and with fuel to spare I made it up to the prison on time. I don’t remember the lesson I gave that day in prison, but I can assure you I remember the lesson I learned. Friends, our heavenly Father can provide for us beyond what we can imagine. Pray to His limits, not yours.

The provisions of God are never limited by the resources of man. Ask, and it will be given to you…For everyone who asks receives…” (Mt. 7:7-8 NKJV)

By the humor of heaven, I remember thinking that day, I should have prayed for a full tank of gas! Let’s not get so serious that we forget to smile.

Blessings to you,

  1. I felt the calling to read another one of your fabulous truths about living the sanctified life! Thank you, Paul…you have pushed me forward again!

  2. Thank you for sharing this. Once again, God reminds me of His faithfulness in the midst of my storm. Some of the greatest miracles of His provision came through when my back was against the wall. I need to meditate on His miracles again, especially now. Tests do not last forever. Our real life challenges (facts) may be staring us right in the face, but Gods word (truth) overrides the facts! I am already praising God for my miracle. It is en route!

    1. Praying for your victory Teri. Our God lives in eternity and He can see your beginning and your end at the same time. He has you so perfectly wrapped in His caring hands. There is never a moment when He is no in sovereign control over every situation around you. Praising Him for all He will do in your life.

  3. This was absolutely awesome, as our God most certainly is. I enjoyed very much reading your faith increasing story about God providing even the gas that you needed to get where He was leading you to be.

It helps to be reminded that there truly is nothing too hard for God. Amen. Thank you brother for sharing this with us.

    1. Thank you so much Holly. I remember one night praying to God on what I could write about. I was searching for things that would reveal His glory. Within a few minutes I was reminded of a dozen supernatural wonders He has done for me. The gas story was one of them. Isn’t God so amazing?

      1. Our God is definitely amazing.

I love how faithful He is. When we feel stuck or unsure how to proceed on any given topic, when we pray, Holy Spirit always gives us exactly what we need to move forward.

You are a blessing and what God is sharing through you is too.
