He Has You

We all have our Goliaths, those people who come against us, and sometimes they can appear to be insurmountable. And just as soon as we deal with one of them, another is sure to follow. Jesus said we would have tribulation here on earth, and He was right.

There is nothing that reveals the spiritual condition of a man or a woman more than the circumstances in which they find themselves. Jesus taught, “In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world” (John 16:33 NKJV).

Our first inclination when our Goliath comes against us is to be afraid. We see what is before us and we know our own limitations, so we begin to fear all the ways this Goliath can harm us. We forget that God is with us.

We fear men too much because we trust God too little. “The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?” (Psalm 118:6 NKJV).

Your Goliath will try to instill fear in you. It is good to have a healthy fear that we would stay safe, but the Lord wants us to trust Him, to know that He is with us. No matter how big your Goliath, God is always bigger.

Every problem you face has a huge sign written across it that says, “Look to Me.” No matter how big your problem looks, God is bigger. “Look to Me, and be saved…” (Isaiah 45:22 NKJV).

The more we realize just how powerful our God is, and trust that He can help us with any situation, the less our Goliath will scare us as much as before. We need to trust God with our life in the day, knowing He has us in His grip for all of eternity.

Don’t let fear rule your life, but trust in God, knowing that He has you. “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me…” (Psalm 23:4 NKJV).

When you win small battles by the power of your God who has helped you, then you will be strengthened for the bigger battles that lie ahead. Whenever you face a giant, think back to all the ways the Lord has helped you before.

It is when we remember all the Lord has done for us in the past that we can trust Him with all that comes against us in the present. Before facing Goliath, “David said, ‘The Lord, who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine…’” (1 Samuel 17:37 NKJV).

Your Goliath can be a giant in many ways, by their physical size, position of authority, intelligence level, manipulative skills, or a host of other characteristics. But no matter the way in which they intimidate you, they are no match for your God.

Don’t focus on those who are against you but on God who is in you. “You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world” (1 John 4:4 NKJV).

When David faced Goliath, he didn’t need to overcome him by his own abilities, but to trust that God would help him. The smallest of stones downed the largest of the giants because God was there to make it so.

There is nothing impossible for you to accomplish so long as you’re letting the Lord help you. “Then Job answered the Lord and said, ‘I know that You can do all things, and that no plan is impossible for You’” (Job 42:1-2 NASB).

Your Goliath may not have a spear or a javelin, but they have something. They will wield their instruments of terror before you, but you must not fear them, for God is with you. Don’t fear them, but let them fear the God who is with you.

Don’t fear men; fear for men. They have no idea of the God who goes before you! “…If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31 NKJV).

Oh, child of God, you timid soul, you have the Spirit of God dwelling in you; of what should you be afraid? When you keep your eyes fixed on God, you will no longer fear men because you will be focused on God who goes before you.

In whatever you’re going through, know that God is with you. “And the Lord, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed” (Deuteronomy 31:8 NKJV).

Precious friend of God, have you no knowledge of the angels who surround you? Have your eyes not yet been opened to see them? If you had even meager faith, you would know that your God can always save you. Pray to have more faith.

Never let the limit of your sight be the limit of your faith. “And Elisha prayed, and said, ‘Lord, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.’ Then the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha” (2 Kings 6:17 NKJV).

Don’t fear your Goliath, but pray the Lord would conquer them. Don’t let the world steal the peace that God can give you, but let the world fear the God who dwells within you. Look your Goliath in the face and tell them on this day the victory is the Lord’s.

God can do more through our prayers than we can do in our efforts. “Now this I know: The Lord gives victory to his anointed. He answers him from his heavenly sanctuary with the victorious power of his right hand. Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God. They are brought to their knees and fall, but we rise up and stand firm.” (Psalm 20:6-8 NIV).
