Secrets from the Holy Spirit

There are some things that God has revealed to everyone to see right away. He has made plain for us the wonder of creation, from the smallest creature to the greatest stars that shine high above. But God’s mysteries run deep behind everything we can see.

God’s mysteries can only be understood through divine revelations. “Call to me, and I will answer you. I will tell you great and mysterious things that you do not know” (Jeremiah 33:3 GW).

There are secrets that God only reveals to His prophets, and they sometimes will share these revelations for others to hear. Often, these revelations do not make sense until much later. Sometimes, centuries must pass before we can understand the prophecies of old.

When God is silent, so it must be for the prophet. “God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets” (Hebrews 1:1 NKJV).

There are some things that the Holy Spirit may share with you that are not meant to be revealed to anyone else. Where there is intimacy, there is trust. It is trust that allows secrets to be shared, and we sometimes need to keep them hidden and hold them as treasures.

There are some things God reveals to you that you must keep hidden. “It is He who reveals the profound and hidden things; He knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with Him” (Daniel 2:22 NASB).

Sometimes, the Holy Spirit will allow you to see into the heart of another person. It may very well be so that you can minister to them and reach down into their deepest need. Other times, it will be to protect you from the darkness that dwells within them.

Shallow people cannot reach the deep things of God. “But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God” (1 Corinthians 2:10 NKJV).

The Holy Spirit knows all that is to come and everything that will happen to you. There is no need to fear the future when you place your future in the perfect hands of your Father. Yet there are times when the Holy Spirit will let you see a glimpse of what is yet to come.

Don’t worry about your future because God is already there. Jesus taught, “But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come” (John 16:13 NASB).

Never think that just because the Holy Spirit shows you a thing, you are supposed to tell anyone about what He has shown you. You can always trust the Lord, but can the Lord always trust you? Let God lead you on what you are to reveal to others of all that He has revealed to you.

There are some secrets that the Lord is the only one you can trust to share them with. “Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us. Selah” (Psalm 62:8 ESV).

The test of how high your faith reaches is in how much you don’t need anyone else to recognize the height at which you are walking. Those who are raised up on a stage on earth are sometimes the lowest in their faith as measured by the truth in heaven. It’s better to be unnoticed by men.

Don’t be surprised that the higher faith from heaven has a lower standing here on earth. “If then you have been raised with Christ [to a new life, thus sharing His resurrection from the dead], aim at and seek the [rich, eternal treasures] that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. And set your minds and keep them set on what is above (the higher things), not on the things that are on the earth” (Colossians 3:1-2 AMPC).

There are secrets about you that few or no one is even aware of. Secret tears reveal secret hurts for which only God can comfort like no other. You can trust God with your secrets, for He already knows them all. The Lord can help you in every secret area of your life.

Father God, I know that every tear produced in suffering is not wasted in Your kingdom. Tears water the life so it can produce fruit. Every suffering has a purpose. “You number my wanderings; Put my tears into Your bottle; Are they not in Your book?” (Psalm 56:8 NKJV).

The Holy Spirit can give you higher doctrinal truths that can only be understood apart from the logic of man but only by the higher reason found in heaven. Do not try to give such pearls to the pigs; only share them with the remnant, who will hold them as treasures.

Revelation is being shown the truth that is hidden in plain sight. You don’t need to search afar to discover more truth, but pray the Holy Spirit will reveal all that is before you. Pray, “that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened…” (Ephesians 1:17-18 NKJV).

It’s not how many secrets you know that sets you apart in the kingdom of God, but how many you can be trusted with until they are ready to be revealed. If God can’t trust you with one small secret, then God can’t trust you at all.

If you’re not honest in small things, then you’re not honest. Jesus taught, “Whoever can be trusted with small things can also be trusted with large things. Whoever is dishonest in little things will be dishonest in large things too.” (Luke 16:10 ICB).

Ask the Lord to show you things that are yet to come. Pray that the Holy Spirit would reveal to you the broken heart of another so you can minister to them effectively. Be willing to be seen lower by men in your silence that you will be living higher by the measure of heaven.

Solitude produces what fellowship cannot. “But when you pray, go away by yourself, all alone, and shut the door behind you and pray to your Father secretly, and your Father, who knows your secrets, will reward you” (Matthew 6:6 TLB).

Blessings to you,

Paul Balius

  1. I love your teachings, this one especially…thankyou.
I have a request. I have one grandson that is not yet saved, and I am not a teacher, Im g’ma. The facts, the gospel I give, he “intellectualizes”. At least he has moved past atheist, now agnostic. He is 21 and a sensitive, loving young man. Can you help me? I feel time is short.
Thankyou, may God keep your words available.

    1. Hi Cheryl, thank you for your kind words. Sorry to reply so late. Your grandson is blessed to have you in his life, to pour out. Keep pouring out, keep planting seeds, that is what we are called to do. Then pray that God will bring it about through circumstances we may never know to cause those seeds to sprout and then to grow. We can trust God with our lives and we can trust Him with the lives of our family. If he is an intellectual then perhaps get him the book, A Case for a Creator. I thought all of Lee Strobel’s books were great at appealing to sound reasoning, include A Case for Christ. Prayers for you, that your life would be the gospel lived, and the gospel preached, to all your family.

  2. Thankyou so much for your response. I have felt more hopeful and close to God praying for him lately. 2 days ago we had a good visit. We have always been close even when he went to college he stayed in contact, a blessing for me. I practically raised him and his sister (a precious 16yr old and accepted Jesus and baptised) TJ seemed closed off in church even when small. He was always willing to ho tho.
I ordered and gave him one of the books you mentioned, A Case For Creator. I wanted to give both..but praying on it, it seemed right to start w/this one. He was sweet, appreciative…we’ll see. I pray continually for a Christian influence to cross his path daily, someone other than me. Some of the things I read from John MacArthur makes me worry…that not all people are called to God, and it’s already a done deal. I don’t seek his teachings out because he always seems so…hard, almost mean spirited. Anyway, that always sticks in my head but I rebuke it because the Jesus I know has his arms open to all if they call.
I pray you always send out your blog. It is so helpful. I send it on when I feel so moved to anyone.
May God continue to bless you.
I would like to share with you how he “comes to believe”! (I believe!) Happy and a peaceful New Year! ❤

    1. Prayers for your son to have his eyes opened that he can begin to see the wondrous truths of God. Be persistent in your prayers for prayer is the door which the power of God will flow. I am eternally optimistic for every soul that I pray for knowing just how full of grace our Lord Jesus is. I have seen Him change the most vile of men and women into the sweetest saints you have ever seen. I have led people to the Lord as they were at their last wakeful moments. When I pray to God I know that my prayers are heard because I am praying for what He wants, the salvation of souls. I love the verse from 2 Peter 3:9 NLT “The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.”
