If God is for us

“If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31 NKJV).

When you are on God’s side, it’s the other side that needs to worry. Put down your fears, you timid Christian, and rest securely in the unfailing hands of God. Your peace in the turmoil is found through the presence of the Holy Spirit within you.

When God has your back, He has your front, too. “For you will not go out in a hurry [as when you left Egypt], nor will you go in flight [fleeing, as you did from the Egyptians]; for the Lord will go before you, and the God of Israel will be your rear guard” (Isaiah 52:12 AMP).

God is for us. He gave His only Son to save us, so why do you wonder whether He might do something infinitely smaller? You are more securely held in the grip of Christ such that nothing could snatch you out of His hands.

What God gives you, man cannot take away. “And I give them eternal life, and they will never, ever [by any means] perish; and no one will ever snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater and mightier than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand” (John 10:28-29 AMP).

God is for us. He numbers the hairs on our heads, so be sure He knows every other detail about our lives as well. Nothing escapes His watching eyes, and no burden we carry is too much for Him to help us. No matter how many come against you, He will always be there.

In whatever you are going through, He has you. “And the Lord, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed” (Deuteronomy 31:8 NKJV).

God is for us in our every breath, including the last one we will someday have. He holds our life in His hands from before we were born to the time we will be in heaven. Every breath you take is a gift from God and a testament to His Spirit living inside you.

Your last breath on earth leads to your first breath in heaven. “The Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life” (Job 33:4 NKJV).

God is for us no matter who is against us. You will have people come against you in a thousand ways, yet there is one way you can defeat them, and it is through His power that you can. You don’t have to cower before your enemies, but they will cower before your God.

Don’t fear men, fear for men. They have no idea of the God who goes before you! “…If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31 NKJV).

God is for us in our poverty as much as in our wealth. His favor is not found in the things that we have but in the truth that we belong to Him. Our greatest inheritance on earth is nothing compared to heaven’s inheritance, which is where we get to live with Him.

You cannot rush an eternal God but only wait for Him to answer you. “‘The Lord is my portion and my inheritance,’ says my soul; ‘therefore I have hope in Him and wait expectantly for Him.’ The Lord is good to those who wait [confidently] for Him, to those who seek Him [on the authority of God’s word]. It is good that one waits quietly for the salvation of the Lord” (Lamentations 3:24-26 AMP).

God is for us in our suffering as much as when we are healed. He lifts us when we are falling, and He lays us down when it is time to rest. His ways cannot be discovered, but His purposes are known to all: He wants us to love others as He Himself has loved us.

Sometimes, your suffering is the blessing. “But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed” (1 Peter 3:14 NIV).

God is for us in our heartbreaks as much as when our hearts are overflowing. Every heartache is proof that our heart is beating, and every joy is proof that our hearts are beating for God. Cry as you must, and then thank Him for holding you in His arms.

If you want to reach the broken, be the broken. “The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves such as have a contrite [crushed] spirit” (Psalm 34:18 NKJV).

God is for us in the darkness as much as when we are walking in the light of His glory. His hand reaches down when we fall, and His voice calls us to live a life that goes ever higher. God was for you before you were saved, so imagine how much He is for you now.

God loved you even when you were His enemy, and He still loves you even in your failures. “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life” (Romans 5:8,10 NKJV).

Blessings to you always,

Paul Balius

  1. Oh, I so needed and continue needing the marvelously beautiful truths set forth here with such spiritual sanity and solid Scriptural support. Thank you, our Abba Almighty, for the saving, sanctifying Spirit of our ardently affectionate Advocate and intensely intimate Intercessor Christ Jesus! Thank you for our beloved brother Paul Balius! Paul, grace to you and peace be multiplied from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

  2. Yes, our Kinsman Redeemer, Christ Jesus, the One altogether faithful and true, our Bridegroom King Who has promised us to never forsake us, fail us or forget us even when we, as one among His beloveds, have fallen the one hundred thousandth time in the same sordid sin. Never is He disappointed or deluded, as from everlasting He knew each and every sin of omission or commission we would be given to, yet He lovingly comes to us, humbly washing our feet and richly renewing our walk with Him, warming our hearts and deepening our gratitude for His forgiveness of our fallenness. With Paul in Romans 7 we cry, in anguish of spirit and agony of soul, Wretched and miserable man that I am! Who will [rescue me and] set me free from this body of death [this corrupt, mortal existence]? 25 Thanks be to God [for my deliverance] through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, on the one hand I myself with my mind serve the law of God, but on the other, with my flesh [my human nature, my worldliness, my sinful capacity—I serve] the law of sin.

    Luke 7:40-50
40 Jesus, answering, said to the Pharisee, “Simon, I have something to say to you.” And he replied, “Teacher, say it.” 41 “A certain moneylender had two debtors: one owed him five hundred [denarii, and the other fifty. 42 When they had no means of repaying [the debts], he freely forgave them both. So which of them will love him more?” 43 Simon answered, “The one, I take it, for whom he forgave more.” Jesus said to him, “You have decided correctly.” 44 Then turning toward the woman, He said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I came into your house [but you failed to extend to Me the usual courtesies shown to a guest]; you gave Me no water for My feet, but she has wet My feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair [demonstrating her love]. 45 You gave Me no [welcoming] kiss, but from the moment I came in, she has not ceased to kiss My feet. 46 You did not [even] anoint My head with [ordinary] oil, but she has anointed My feet with [costly and rare] perfume. 47 Therefore I say to you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much; but he who is forgiven little, loves little.” 48 Then He said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.” 49 Those who were reclining at the table with Him began saying among themselves, “Who is this who even forgives sins?” 50 Jesus said to the woman, “Your faith [in Me] has saved you; go in peace [free from the distress experienced because of sin].”

    1. I love this message that you wrote. How much we all need to hear this, His mercy is endless, His grace pours out, and we can only sit back in loving adoration for how much He loves us even when we fail Him so often.
