Every one of us has times when we feel overwhelmed. We may have more to do than we can possibly do and feel as if we are drowning in all that must be done. It seems like for every one thing we cross off the list, two or three more things get added.
Tired soul, the Lord does not want you to carry more than you can possibly carry. Seek His leading in how you need to set some things down. Let the Lord show you what is important, and then be willing to set aside those things that are not.
You wouldn’t feel so overwhelmed if you weren’t trying to do so much. “Then Jesus said, ‘Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest’” (Matthew 11:28 NLT).
You know you’ve given it to God when you no longer feel the burden. “Cast your burden on the Lord [releasing the weight of it] and He will sustain you; He will never allow the [consistently] righteous to be moved (made to slip, fall, or fail)” (Psalm 55:22 AMPC).
Often, we will get overwhelmed with worries about our health or the health of a loved one. We will worry about what will happen and what we can do. No matter how hard we try, it can sometimes feel like things just are not getting better.
Fearful soul, place your life and the life of your loved one safely in the arms of Jesus. He spilled His blood to save your soul for eternity, and you can be sure He has you right now in the safety of His hands. Rest easy and know you will live forever.
A good attitude holds you up in bad circumstances. “A happy heart is good medicine and a cheerful mind works healing, but a broken spirit dries up the bones” (Proverbs 17:22 AMPC).
Praise God that He will not always heal us, that we will perish and go to heaven. “For this world is not our home; we are looking forward to our everlasting home in heaven” (Hebrews 13:14 TLB).
Sometimes, we will be overwhelmed with how much everything costs and how what we have can buy less and less. We will not see a way out and think we cannot make it. We worry about the future and what we can possibly do to be more secure in what we have,
Poor soul, don’t you know that your Father is richer than anyone? He has more in one of His millions of storehouses than you could possibly use up in a hundred lifetimes. Work hard, be honest, and be wise, for from these three things, the Lord will surely bless you.
If you have nothing but Jesus, you have everything you need. “You, Lord, are all I have, and you give me all I need; my future is in your hands” (Psalm 16:5 GNT).
The greater our need, the greater His supply. “And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19 NASB).
Too often, we can get overwhelmed with our job and all the challenges we face in the workplace. We have some who mistreat us and others who get credit for what we really do. We have limits to where we can go and can feel overwhelmed by how much we need to do.
Frustrated soul, know that it is the Lord who you really work for, and it will be by His hand that you get the reward. Be honest in your dealings and be fair with everyone around you. Show mercy to those who need it and be sure you need it from the Lord as well.
When you work unto the Lord, the Lord will help you in your work. “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving” (Colossians 3:23-24 NIV).
In the world, it is what you can do. In the kingdom, it is what He can do through you. “For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him” (Philippians 2:13 NLT).
For those serving the Lord, we can get overwhelmed with all that we are doing for Him. There is so much to be done, and often, it seems like what we are doing has little impact on anyone. We can feel like giving up, as if it wouldn’t really matter if we did.
Tired soul do not worry about what impact your serving has, and only be faithful to do what He is leading you to do. Serving in the kingdom is never measured by the scales of this world. Just be faithful in your service and know that the Lord will help you in all you do.
If you’re working for God, let Him tell you what to do. “Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take” (Proverbs 3:6 NLT).
One day doesn’t make a trend, but a thousand do. Commit your life to Jesus. “If anyone serves Me, he must follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also; if anyone serves Me, the Father will honor him” (John 12:26 NASB).
Blessings to you,
