The Hope of Heaven

Never lose hope knowing that He will never fail you. “It is good that one should hope and wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord” (Lamentations 3:26).

Too often, we allow ourselves to be consumed by all that is going on around us. We become victims of the world’s hopelessness as projected through the voice of media. The chaos around us starts to create chaos within us. As we focus on the state of our world, the hope of heaven fades within our hearts.

No matter how bad things get, yet the Lord remains sovereign. “And I will wait on the Lord…and I will hope in Him” (Isaiah 8:17).

Don’t assume the next chapter will be worse, when it may be the best one ever. “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope” (Jeremiah 29:11).

You can either choose to believe God or listen to the nonsense of man. Choose wisely as your life will be ruled by the choice that you make. Choose the hope of heaven. Choose to believe in all that the Lord can do to help you. “…lest you sorrow as others who have no hope” (1 Thessalonians 4:13).

The hope of Christ trumps the fears of man. “…the Lord Jesus Christ, our hope” (1 Timothy 1:1).

Even when it seems you don’t have a prayer, pray. Be someone who is: “rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer” (Romans 12:12).

Don’t let go, but hold on. Don’t lose hope, but keep hope. The hope of heaven is not dependent on man, but man is dependent on the hope of heaven. You can live a life of hope when once you determine to allow God to give it to you.

When you hope in the Lord, it sets you free from the chains of worry and the prison of anxiety. “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is the Lord. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters…and will not fear when heat comes…and will not be anxious in the year of drought…” (Jeremiah 17:7-8).

Often the things that are tearing you apart are what God is using to build you up. “…we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope” (Romans 5:3-4).

It does not require strength to have hope, but only a that you trust in the Lord who can give it to you. We cannot attain this life of hopeful living but only receive it humbly as a gift from God. No matter your circumstances, yet God still reigns in heaven.

Hope is found in God, not in circumstances. “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, even though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea” (Psalm 46:1-2).

Don’t be discouraged by a bad day, but only grow from it. “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit” (Romans 15:13).

Hanging onto hope is not only to save you but to be a beacon of light through you. As you walk in the confidence of the power of heaven, people will be drawn to what you have. There is no other treasure on earth of greater value than having the God of all the galaxies shining from deep within you.

Hope is not a feeling but a knowing. “This hope we have as an anchor of the soul…” (Hebrews 6:19).

Rejoice in what you don’t see, knowing it is in the hidden things where your faith is revealed. “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1).

I can always tell when a person has the hope of heaven firmly planted in their heart. They don’t worry about the things going on around them. They are not fearful of what they might lose because they know Who has them. They are not discouraged by current news because they know their future hope.

The man or woman of God carries the flag of hope, not just when they overcome, but in the midst of everything they’re going through. “Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Lord his God” (Psalm 146:5).

If you want to live the carefree life, it is not your circumstances that must change, but you. “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful” (Hebrews 10:23).

Be the light in the darkness. Be the one who is not moved by the antics of man. Be the reflector of heaven, the ambassador of hope, and the example of godly living. Sacrifice your fears and gain the confidence that comes from heaven. Be the one that people will turn to.

Now is the time to show others the hope of heaven within you. “…always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you…” (1 Peter 3:15).

Blessings to you,

Paul

  1. Thank-you for the encouragement to hold on to Hope in the Lord! I am trying to do just that. Please pray for my son Corey, he has struggled with opiate addiction for 13 years and after many years of treatment by a doctor has chosen to abuse heroin once again. Even so, God has given me a Spirit of Hope and Praise this morning!

    1. Praying for Corey, may the Lord give him deliverance from this addiction. Prayers that someone will come into Corey’s path that can help him on this journey to freedom in the Lord. Blessings to you.
