In my life I had grown into a person filled with anxiousness. My worries grew in my mind to where the anxiousness of what might happen was as bad or worse than what often did happen. Anxiousness ruled me and was ruining me. Not even the science of man could help me.
I believe anxiousness is so pervasive across humanity, that not one soul is alive who is not affected by it. Consider what is making you anxious at this very moment. We have become a people consumed by our anxieties. We worry ourselves to death, literally.
I want you to know, there is a cure for anxiousness. That cure is not found in medicine but by the healing powers of heaven. You may need natural medicine for a time, and you get those as needed, but never substitute entirely the devices of man for the power of God. Seek God first, not second.
Anxiousness is the Devil’s tool to take your eyes off the Lord and put them onto yourself. You cannot save yourself. Take your eyes off yourself and look to the Lord – this is the secret of the believer who has peace.
Here is a truth – you can be set free from the bondage of your anxiousness. It is the Devil that wants to keep you there, but it is the power of God that can deliver you from it. God never fails.
I have been wonderfully cured of my anxiousness. By the power of heaven, I don’t become anxious even when I should be. I have escaped the prison of anxiousness and have been set free to live my life in peace. It is my greatest hope that you would be set free too. God is able if you are willing.
What you focus on is what has you. Focus on things and things have you. Focus on problems and problems have you. Focus on yourself and you have you, which gives you nothing more. Change your focus to change you. Focus on God and then He has you. “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You” (Isaiah 26:3).
Peace comes not from the security of what we have, but in knowing our Lord is sovereign over all we need. Your Heavenly Father knows what you need more than you know. “…O you of little faith…do not…have an anxious mind…your Father knows…” (Luke 12:28-30).
Give the Lord your worries and He will give you His peace. Stop negotiating for a better deal, for there is none better than this. “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7).
Nothing on earth weighs more than a single anxious thought. Nobody has ever worried themselves into a better life. The only path to a better life is trusting in the Lord. “But let all those rejoice who put their trust in You…” (Psalm 5:11).
Don’t worry, trust. Trust grows out of the rich soil of God’s truth. The more firmly you are rooted in the truth of God’s Word, the more peace will blossom from your life. “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is the Lord. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, which spreads out its roots by the river, and will not fear when heat comes; but its leaf will be green, and will not be anxious in the year of drought, nor will cease from yielding fruit” (Jeremiah 17:7-8).
Trusting in God does not always remove the things that we worry about, but it removes the need to worry about them.
The only stress that consumes you is the stress you hold onto. The only burdens that weigh you down are the burdens you carry. Choose to let go. He has you. “…He Himself has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you’” (Hebrews 13:5).
Anxiousness is the flag you raise when the foundation of your trust is you. The more you realize His greatness in you, the less you will worry about the things around you. “…He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world” (1 John 4:4).
You will not enjoy today worrying about tomorrow. Half the things you worry about today you won’t even remember a year from now. Jesus taught, “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble” (Matthew 6:34).
God does not always remove what we worry about, and instead uses the very thing we worry about to help us trust in Him even more. “In the multitude of my anxieties within me, Your comforts delight my soul.” (Psalm 94:19)
The Lord never tells us to worry, but to trust. The more you trust in the Lord, the less you will worry about man. “The fear of man brings a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord shall be safe” (Proverbs 29:25).
We can’t even trust ourselves, but we can always trust in Him. Jesus wants to set you free from yourself, “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life…” (Matthew 6:25).
The more you live the Word, the more you live.
Blessings to you,
