Declarations

Declarations profess our inward belief with words that go out from us. We can think on a truth, but when we speak it, we declare it before God and to those around us. Declarations can move us from doubt to assurance, that we might take hold of those things freely given by God.

You cannot take hold of the promises of God while firmly holding onto the doubts in your heart. “…when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you welcomed it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which also effectively works in you who believe” (1 Thessalonians 2:13 NKJV).

We must beware the “name it and claim it” false teaching of our day. Whatever is of the flesh stands in opposition to the Spirit of God. The more we seek satisfaction from the world, the more we belong in hell. It is God’s right alone to name it, and no man’s right to claim it.

It is not for you to name nor to claim, but to only receive that which He would give you. “So my friends, don’t be fooled by your own desires! Every gift God freely gives us is good and perfect…” (James 1:16-17 TPT).

Declarations properly spoken never bypass the authority of God nor stand in opposition to His Word. We can safely declare God all-powerful, and most assuredly declare man wholly dependent on God. Heavenly declarations point to heaven, and godly declarations point to God.

When we speak heavenly truths, they will only hurt where they need to. “For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed” (John 3:20 NKJV).

When we declare a truth over our lives, we are better able to take hold of it. We must believe the Word of God is from God and then declare its truth upon us. God’s Word says it can change you and it is up to you to declare this before you will receive it.

Don’t live in regret for your failures, but in awe of all God would yet do through you. “Yes, God is working in you to help you want to do what pleases him. Then he gives you the power to do it” (Philippians 2:13 ICB).

We must beware not to declare an unbalanced portion of Scripture upon us. We need all the Word to be in the will of God. We can receive what we ask for, but we must not be amiss in our asking. God will gladly give those things we ask for that are in His will.

Believe for more, then pray for more, that the will of God would be done on earth. Jesus taught to pray with faith saying, “And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive” (Matthew 21:22 NKJV). Jesus taught to pray for God’s will, saying, “In this manner, therefore, pray: …Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:9-10 NKJV).

Seek God’s truth, and then your declarations will have power. Declare those things in the Word that the Lord has declared over you. As you declare His truth, then you will see His truth manifest around you. A thought can fly undetected, but a word declared stands for all to see.

A word spoken is a thing established. “You will also declare a thing, and it will be established for you; so light will shine on your ways” (Job 22:28 NKJV).

We often declare ourselves the losers before the loss and think ourselves prophetic when we get there. Stop making declarations that lead to your own defeat. Declare God’s truth instead of man’s misery and trust in Him to make the way. There must be a Red Sea so that He can make the way.

If Moses had relied upon the resources of man, the Israeli nation would have perished by the Red Sea. “And Moses said to the people, ‘Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today… The Lord will fight for you…’” (Exodus 14:13-14 NKJV).

If you want a new thing in the New Year, then speak it before God and man. Speak new life and speak new freedoms and be determined in your mind to let God help you reach them. Put behind you what has no place before you and declare to stay in God’s will in all you do.

Sometimes you need to burn the bridge that you wouldn’t ever go down that road again. “throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception. Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy” (Ephesians 4:22-24 NLT).

Blessings to you,

Paul Balius

If you have time, read some declarations I wrote below. Consider writing your own declarations, seeking that they would be in the will of God and that you would live them.

Prayerful Declarations

Lord, I declare that my life belongs to You and my purposes are of Your design. I declare a surrender to You that Your will would reign in my life. I declare freedom from the bondage to the things of this world by the power and the working of Your Spirit within me.

I declare success in my life and my ministry as measured on the scales of heaven and established by the plans of Your heart. If I am called to reach one, let me be diligent to find that one. I declare clarity of thought and purpose in all that I do as I am guided by the Holy Spirit.

I declare trust in Your plans even when I don’t understand them. I declare a hedge of protection by the mercy of Christ around myself, my family, and my friends from sicknesses and dangers that surround us. I declare restoration from things lost and renewal to things broken.

I declare light would shine in every darkness that tries to get near me. I declare blindness and confusion on the enemies of Your kingdom. I declare hindrances to the workers of evil that everything they do would turn around and work against them.

I declare the truth and assured promises of Your Word. I declare my desire to see greater depths of revelation by the Holy Spirit to know truth, live the truth and teach the truth. I declare the truth that in Christ Jesus alone am I saved, and by His blood will I ever see heaven.

I declare the truth that You are a good God, a merciful God, and a gracious God. I declare the truth that you do not give me a spirit of fear and so I will reject fear back to hell where it came from. I declare power, love, and sound reasoning over my life.

I declare my love for You, Lord Jesus. I declare that You alone are my hope and my Savior. I declare that I belong to You. I declare that You, Lord Jesus, are my King, my Friend, my hope, my comfort, my healing, my salvation, my peace, my everything, and my God.

Amen and amen!
