He Has You

This is from a series I wrote called “Tactics of the Devil”. One of the Devil’s tactics is to disarm the Church such that it would have little or no spiritual power. This disarming is done through the deception of the Devil and rides on the good intentions of man. 

The way to win a battle is to weaken your opponent. The Devil weakens the Church with the lie that there is no more spiritual power for the saints. But the Church can weaken the Devil with the truth that we have the Holy Spirit living within us and His power will never be diminished.

God did not give us spiritual power to impress man, but to rattle the foundations of hell. While many argue against that there is spiritual power for the believers of our day, the remnant yet walks in this power. Believe in the Word of God more than the words of man, and it will be there you will walk in kingdom power.

Pray for your Pastor and elders to be filled of the Holy Ghost. Pray more than you criticize and then watch what will happen. If you want a better Church, then you yourself be filled of the Holy Spirit, that you might start a trend.

Here are some words on this important subject to help build up the Church with the power of the Holy Spirit in our day. I am not pulling any punches here as we are in a war, not a dance contest.

There is no off-switch with the power of the Holy Spirit.

It is a sad statement of how little Christians know of the power of the Holy Ghost within them. Jesus said, “…you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you…” (Acts 1:8). If the Holy Spirit is upon you, you have received power. Jesus said so, the Devil denies it, who will you believe?

If the Devil cannot win by darkness, all he needs do is to remove the fire in the Church, and then the light will dim. Keep the fire burning.

Cessationism, the teaching that spiritual gifts and power have ceased to exist, is the Devil’s doctrine meant to castrate the Church that the sons of God would not be born in this generation. “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God” (Romans 8:14).

The Bible never said the power would go away, but only some would deny it. Many will come in the last days, “having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!” (2 Timothy 3:5). Friends, it may be some well-meaning Christians we will need to turn away from.

The scheme of the Devil is to disarm the Christian with a weak theology that has no power. Think about it, who would want you to think you are powerless? The Devil is deceiving too many Christians.

Stop preaching a safe but weak theology and preach the authority and the power that Jesus has given us. Jesus said, “Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you” (Luke 10:19).

Jesus gave you authority, but it is up to you to walk in it.

My fear is we embrace what seems good and reject what we don’t understand, and in so doing fall into the trap of Satan. And all the while we are thinking how very clever we are. Beware of how clever you think you are. We don’t need clever words, we need the truth.

When we preach on Holy Spirit power the Devil always sends someone that they may attack it. “But these, like natural brute beasts made to be caught and destroyed, speak evil of the things they do not understand, and will utterly perish in their own corruption” (2 Peter 2:12).

The great danger in our faith is not that we would be overtaken by something blatantly evil, but by something that appears to be good when it is not.

The Church is so afraid of false prophets that it rejects true prophets. Jesus never said to reject prophets, but to test them. Jesus said, “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits…” (Matthew 7:15-16).

If the Devil is not attacking you then that is telling you are of no threat to him. You never see a football player on the bench getting tackled. If you are on the field, you are going to get hit. Suit up soldier.

Never darken the halls of your Church to make the demons comfortable, rather keep the light on that you would expose them.

If you don’t cast the demons, you keep the demons. Jesus said, “And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons…” (Mark 16:17).

If you don’t evict the Devil, then don’t be surprised when he stays.

Sometimes the reason demons stay in our church is because nobody has told them they have to leave. “Now in the synagogue there was a man who had a spirit of an unclean demon. …Jesus rebuked him, saying, ‘Be quiet, and come out of him!’” (Luke 4:33,35).

Gimmicks are the Devil’s tools meant to divert you from relying upon the Holy Spirit. Peter didn’t need anything but the Holy Spirit to cast demons and heal the sick. If you are filled of the Holy Spirit, that is enough. We might see more power in our churches if they would sometimes turn off their electricity.

The self-help movement is the Devilish plan to conquer you by your own hand. If you help yourself, you are the limit of you. But if the Holy Spirit helps you, mountains will tremble at your words.

Intellectualism apart from the Holy Spirit is like a computer without electricity, it has the potential but not the power to do anything. You need the power of the Holy Spirit to be effective for the Church. “And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power” (1 Corinthians 2:4).

Test what you hear against the Word of God. Where does Scripture say the power will go away? Stop believing man more than the Word of God.

“Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him…” (Job 13:15). This verse is a truth that wrecks the Devilish doctrine of the gospel of health, wealth and prosperity. This is truth: you will suffer, but praise God, He has you.
