He Has You

For several years I was blessed to serve in a church behind prison walls called “New Beginnings”. This church was in a historic chapel built for a World War II hospital base. Later this old military base was converted into a state prison. Interesting that it remained a place of healing.

It was in this church where I not only heard about the power of God, but I saw it. I saw prophetic moves, deliverance, healings, and much more. But the greatest miracles were found in the lives of the many men who experienced a new beginning in this church behind walls.

Many today are trapped in their own prisons. They are in bondage to sin and held hostage by their past and all that they have been through. Many struggle to find joy in the moment, let alone in the day. But I want you to know something, you can have a new beginning.

It does not matter how far you have fallen into sin. It does not matter where you are in your faith, or if you don’t have any faith at all. It does not matter if you think you have it altogether as a Christian. What matters is this: are you willing to receive a new beginning? I pray that you would say yes.

Nothing is impossible for God, not even you.

You can be a new you, don’t let anyone tell you different.

Consider that what we see as the end, He sees as the beginning. “Anyone who belongs to Christ is a new person. The past is forgotten, and everything is new” (2 Corinthians 5:17 CEV).

Every new beginning starts at the end of something old. What needs to be put to end in your life?

We will reach the beginning of Him when we reach the end of ourselves.

It is not where you have been that matters most, but where you are going. “Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it?…” (Isaiah 43:18-19 NKJV).

Every sunrise begins a new day. Every day is an opportunity to be a new you. Don’t look back, you’re not going that way. Don’t hold onto the past, leave it in the past. You won’t change if you don’t change.

Dare to live the life in Christ. Don’t say it, do it.

It will take an act of God to change you, which He will do as soon as you will just fall to your knees and let Him. “…be inwardly transformed by the Holy Spirit through a total reformation of how you think…” (Romans 12:2 TPT).

Change only begins when you start. Every beginning is in the now, not the later. Waiting is the enemy of change.

Change does not come by much effort, but by a single decision of the will. So, decide already.

Your body will never improve if all you do is talk about it. The same is true with your spirit man inside you. Make today the day you will change. For your body, eat right and exercise. For your spirit, eat the Word and then walk in it. “Your words were found, and I ate them, and Your word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart…” (Jeremiah 15:16).

Your life does not change when you call Him Lord, but when He is your Lord.

You may know that the Holy Spirit is in you, but does your life reflect it? Be honest about that.

It is not the truth you know that matters as much as the truth you live. Even demons know the truth, set your bar higher than that. “Only fear the Lord, and serve him in truth with all your heart: for consider how great things he hath done for you” (1 Samuel 12:24 KJV).

Stop trying to change the world and just change yourself. The greatest change you can make in this world is allowing Christ to change you.

The lie from the enemy says that you will never change. The truth from Jesus is that He can change you. The lie keeps you in bondage, but the truth can set you free. Jesus taught us, “For if you embrace the truth, it will release more freedom into your lives” (John 8:32 TPT).

Don’t only pray for God to change your circumstances, but to change you.

What is it going to take for the Lord to change you? It is easier to let go than to have things wrestled away. You choose. “But if you don’t want to serve Yahweh, then choose today whom you will serve…” (Joshua 24:15 NOG).

You have the limitless and uncontainable power of the Holy Spirit dwelling within you. It is only the power of your refusal that can prevent Him from changing you.

We don’t drive faster on the freeway because we fear that we would get caught. Fear changes behavior. Fear the Lord. “Fear of the Lord is the foundation of true wisdom. All who obey His commandments will grow in wisdom…” (Psalm 111:10 NLT).

If you only listen to preachers that make you feel good as you are, how do you expect to change? It takes a hard truth to break through the armor of our pride.

Humility invokes change. Pride prevents change. Pride looks at what is wrong in others. Humility looks at what is wrong in ourselves. “He leads humble people to do what is right, and He teaches them His way” (Psalm 25:9 NOG). Worry about yourself, God will deal with everyone else.
