It is my deepest desire that God’s children would seek to possess a greater understanding of the deep things of God. Not just facts and figures to be memorized, but the wisdom and the revelation that would transform their lives into all that God would have them become.
You were meant to flow in wisdom and revelation. This is not meant for only the few, but it is only the few who will go after it. Go after it!
I am praying this verse for you, “that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened…” (Ephesians 1:17-18).
In the last blog entitled “The Seven Spirits of the Lord”, I reviewed the revelation of “The Seven Spirits of the Lord” as first revealed in the Tabernacle Lampstand to Moses, then further revealed to Isaiah the Prophet and then even further revealed to the Apostle John in Revelations.
There is one Holy Spirit, but seven streams that flow from Him. In Isaiah 11:2 we discover these streams, first starting with the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of the Lord, as the main center of the Lampstand. Then flowing out from the sides of the Holy Spirit are the six streams or attributes of the Holy Spirit. Walking in the full and complete filling of the Holy Spirit, all of these attributes will be manifested in you.
The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him,
the Spirit of wisdom and understanding,
the Spirit of counsel and might,
the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord.
(Isaiah 11:2)
The Holy Spirit was first sent to rest upon Jesus as prophesied by Isaiah. Then Jesus promised that the Father would send the Holy Spirit to pour out upon us. It is my prayer that the Seven Spirits of the Lord would rest upon you.
The first pair of spiritual streams are the Spirit of wisdom and understanding. These go together because the one builds upon the other. We have one when we have the other. By wisdom comes understanding, and by understanding comes wisdom. There is a spiritual balance in all we might gain from the Holy Spirit.
We will find the pairing of words to be “wisdom and understanding” or sometimes “wisdom and revelation”. In effect they are the same, as it is by revelation that we can receive understanding, the one begets the other.
“and He has filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom and understanding…” (Exodus 35:31). Notice that the gain in “wisdom and understanding” here comes by the actions of God, man can only receive.
Here are some things I have written on wisdom and revelation. I pray that the Lord would bless you with full measure of the Holy Spirit flowing into your life.
You cannot gain what can only be given to you. In the natural you gain by your natural abilities and your natural strength. In the spiritual all things must be given to you.
You will never get closer to God walking on natural paths. You cannot learn spiritual truths by natural study methods. You must be nothing to gain something in the spiritual realm.
Solomon was not a man who gained wisdom, but a man who was given wisdom. “And God gave Solomon wisdom and exceedingly great understanding…” (1 Kings 4:29).
You cannot climb spiritual mountains, only be lifted up to them. The harder you try, the prouder you are, and the lower you will remain.
Some of the most brilliant men on earth know nothing of heavenly wisdom.
You can never buy the gift of wisdom and understanding, but only humbly receive it. I pray, “…that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding” (Colossians 1:9).
To gain worldly wisdom requires much effort. To gain heavenly wisdom requires much submission.
Knowledge comes through study, but revelation only comes by God.
It is not that God has hidden the truth, but only that we are blind to see it, deaf that we might hear it, with a heart that cannot understand. “Yet the Lord has not given you a heart to perceive and eyes to see and ears to hear, to this very day” (Deuteronomy 29:4).
Spiritual senses are never attained, only received. It is never a matter of trying harder but yielding more. The harder you try, the less you will be given.
Flowing in the Spirit never comes by your strength, but by your weakness. Consider the path of a river.
You don’t gain faith by revelation, but revelation by faith.
Words for God’s Workers:
Never think your sin will not impact the wisdom and revelation that God would give you. Jesus warned, “Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lampstand from its place—unless you repent” (Revelation 2:5).
Never take the anointing for granted, God will not be mocked.
You don’t have to be a Prophet to flow in the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, but you cannot be a Prophet without it.
Revelation attracts the most critics, thus exposing them. Preach revelation anyway. We will all answer to God, don’t worry about men, but fear the Lord in everything you say.
Prophetic words can never be contained by the intellectualism of man. “These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual” (1 Corinthians 2:13).
Don’t try to explain more so your preaching is safer but reveal more that your teaching is effective.
You will never satisfy natural arguments with spiritual truth.
The more natural you put in your message, the less spiritual will remain.

Thank you Paul. This is exactly what I needed on the day I need to speak Father’s truth clearly to a very dear friend. I have been trying to figure out how and when to speak. After reading this I know His wisdom will flow through me perfectly. My part is to open my mouth when He tells me to. I can do that!
Prayers for His wisdom to be upon you. There is so much power when we speak a word to someone. We can barely remember a sermon we heard a week or two ago, but a word directed to us alone is something we might carry for the rest of our lives. Knowing this, we need to lean on the Spirit to guide us as we speak to others.
