He Has You

A few years ago, I was asked to preach on creation. When preparing for the message I had a revelation that the 1^st chapter of Genesis was not just the story of creation, but of the divine ordering of things.

If you want to grow in your faith, you must step into the divine ordering of things for your life. You must by the Spirit of God walk in the divine ordering of things so that your life would forever be joined to a God of order.

The story of creation begins with this grand prequel statement: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” (John 1:1 NKJV). This verse describes eternity past and the eternal realm in which God inhabits. This habitation of God is an uncreated, infinite, eternal and transcendent realm that always was, always is and always will be.

A few verses later we discover who the Word is from John 1:1: “And the Word (Christ) became flesh, and lived among us; and we [actually] saw His glory, glory as belongs to the [One and] only begotten Son of the Father…” (John 1:14 AMP). The Word is Jesus.

Now we can see Jesus in John 1:1 from eternity past: “In the beginning was the Word [Jesus], and the Word [Jesus] was with God, and the Word [Jesus] was God” (John 1:1 NKJV).

All the Old Testament, which spans thousands of years describes the events found between the verses of John 1:1 and John 1:14.

The story of all creation is given in summary by a single verse, the first verse of the Bible. “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1 NKJV).

Genesis 1:1 is the first grand divine ordering of things, in which God created two separate realms, the spiritual realm with the heavens and the natural realm with earth.

This ordering or separation is a dividing, a consecration of one thing from another. The divine ordering of how things should be, of setting things into their divinely ordained place.

This is the grandest of secrets for a saint to discover, of discerning the divine ordering of things for their life such that they can live in the way that God has divinely ordained for them. Until you step into the Lord’s divine order, you are living out of order.

Genesis chapter one continues with the details of creation summarized in Genesis 1:1. These details are actually the divine ordering of things into their proper place. Each day of creation describes this divine ordering of things by God.

Day 1: “…God divided the light from the darkness…” (Genesis 1:4 NKJV). This is the divine ordering of the revealed from the hidden. This light precedes natural light. It is glory light, the same light that will someday illuminate heaven. Jesus was this light come to earth. This is the light we need for spiritual revelation, that we would be able to see heavenly truths and be enlightened by the things of God.

Day 2: “Thus God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament; and it was so” (Genesis 1:7 NKJV). This is a divine ordering of the same thing, yet into different positions. We may all be saints, but we each have different purposes. God has divinely ordered where we should be and what we should do.

Day 3: “Then God said, ‘Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear…’” (Genesis 1:9 NKJV). This is the divine ordering of things that are different, set apart to each serve their own purpose. Wherever we lack boundaries, we lack the order of God. We must seek His leading to know what we are to be joined to and consecrated from.

Day 4: “Then God said, ‘Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night…’” (Genesis 1:14 NKJV). This is the divine ordering of created illumination. The Sun representing the glory of God and the moon representing His creation of man designed to reflect His glory. It is when man tries to usurp God’s glory, tries to be the source of the light, that the divine ordering of things is out of order.

As a side note, a small mention is given, that God also created all the billions of galaxies with each galaxy containing billions of stars, with this unassuming side note: “…He made the stars also” (Genesis 1:16 NKJV). We serve an awesome God!

Day 5: God divided the lower creature realms, the sea and the sky: “Then God said, ‘Let the waters abound with an abundance of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the face of the firmament of the heavens.’” (Genesis 1:20 NKJV). This is the divine order of the equipping by God, giving every creature what it needs for its own circumstance, its own realm, whether it be to swim or to fly. God equips His saints in like manner, giving them exactly what they need to fulfill His ordained purpose for their life. Don’t try to swim if God gave you the ability to fly.

Day 6: Man and woman, “So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them” (Genesis 1:27 NKJV). The division between man and woman is not higher and lower, but side by side. Man cannot survive without woman and woman cannot survive without man. Both male and female are made in His image. When a man degrades a woman, he is harming the divine order of things, as like man, the woman was made in the image of God.

In however God has ordered things, the evil one tries to change and distort the ordering. This is why we have so much confusion and chaos today with the roles, the rights and the dignity of men and women. When a saint can see themselves and others as containing the stamp, the image of God upon them, it will be there that the saint can rightly love their neighbor, male or female.

Day 7: Sanctified the Sabbath from the work, the natural from the supernatural. “Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it…” (Genesis 2:3 NKJV). The divine ordering of things sets aside one day for the Lord. If you want to start restoring order into your life, then learn to rest in the Lord on His Sabbath day.

This word “sanctify” from Genesis 2:3 in Hebrew is “qadash”, the same word that is also translated to consecration and holiness. This word Qadash is also in the name of our Holy Spirit, “Qadash Ruach”.

The third person of the trinity, the Holy Spirit, is by name the Spirit that brings order, the divine order, He is the Consecrating Spirit, the Sanctifying Spirit, the Ordering of things Spirit. It will be when we yield to the Spirit that the Spirit will bring order into our lives.

The Fall: But then in Genesis chapter 3 there was the fall of man. The fall of man was the greatest and gravest “out of order” event of all time. Where there had once been a divine ordering of things, it was replaced with disorder. Evil always attempts to disrupt order. Wherever there is disorder there is sin. In however you refuse to be in His divine order you are in rebellion to a God who created all things in order.

Make no mistake about it, we serve a God of order. “For God is not a God of disorder…” (1 Corinthians 14:33 NLT)

We are called to “Let all things be done decently and in order” (1 Corinthians 14:40 KJV). In however your life is out of order, you are living contrary to God’s divine order.

But God had a plan. Jesus taught us, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16 KJV).

But we miss something in this translation of John 3:16. Where it says, “For God so loved the world”, the word “world” in the original Greek was “Kosmos”. In English we think of Cosmos to define all of creation, the galaxies and beyond. But in Greek Kosmos meant, “the order of things”.

So now we can read John 3:16 like this, “For God so loved the [order of things]”, the way that things were meant to be, His divine ordering of things, that He sent His Son Jesus, that through Jesus things could be brought back into the divine order.

Day 8: The resurrection of the Christ, the promised and anointed Messiah. It was the 8^th day that Jesus rose from the dead, with the number eight representing new beginnings. That Jesus would reconcile man back to God.

And man would once again walk in the divine order of things, in communion with God forever, filled with God forever. And Jesus promised, “Then I will ask the Father to send you the Holy Spirit who will help you and always be with you” (John 14:16 CEV).
