He Has You

Several years ago, I found out the job I had been in forever was going away. In God’s timing, that very night I was beginning to teach a new class in a state prison on how to get a job. Isn’t God so humorous on His timing!

Often the Lord has us go through things such that we can help others in the very same thing. We learn the truth of God when we must live it.

In looking for a job I was becoming fearful, worrying that I would not be able to find one. I wrote down some verses that would help me overcome this fear. I needed the promises of God in the face of all that was before me.

When I am praying, I will often remind God of all He has said. I will remind Him of His Promises. In the process, He in turn will remind me of His promises: “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go” (Joshua 1:9). The command is clear, no fear.

The Word of God is the Promise of God.

There is power in the Word of God.

Pray the Word.

Pray the Promise.

When you pray the Promise, you pray the power.

When I read God’s Word I believe that He can do what He says He can do. I stand on His promises. “And the LORD said to Moses, ‘Has the LORD’S arm been shortened? Now you shall see whether what I say will happen to you or not.'” (Numbers 11:23).

You will never fall when standing on the Word of God.

What is your greatest battle? Find the verse that speaks to your victory and pray that verse. David told Goliath, “You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the Lord of [angelic armies]…” (1 Samuel 17:45). What are you telling your Goliath?

Stand on the Rock of His Promises instead of sinking in the pool of your fears.

We cannot always rely upon the good intentions of man, but only the Promises of God. People will fail you, but the Lord never will. “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand” (Isaiah 41:10).

You must stand on the Word and pray the Word that the power in the Word would become the power in your life.

When Jesus did battle with Satan, He wielded the Word of God. “But He [Jesus] answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’” (Matthew 4:4).

It is not enough to know the Word, you must believe the Word.

God can provide what you need. He is not the God of scarcity but abundance. “…to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think…” (Ephesians 3:20).

Pray like a believer.

You must believe to receive. Jesus promised, “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you” (John 15:7).

Be sure that if you are in Christ, your desires are born out of heaven.

It is in remembering all that God has done, that we can trust Him with all that lies ahead. “I will lift up my eyes to the hills— From whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth” (Psalm 121:1-2).

If the Lord is calling you to something, be sure that He will help you in it.

Never fear what the Lord has for you. “For I, the Lord your God, will hold your right hand, saying to you, ‘Fear not, I will help you’” (Isaiah 41:13).

You will not partake of the divine so long as you are consumed by the natural.

We have too many natural Christians.

If you want to operate along the lines of heaven, you cannot be bound by the ways of man. “…His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness… by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature…” (2 Peter 1:3-4).

If you want to live in a divine nature, then you must receive the divine promises.

You cannot take hold of the promises of God while firmly holding onto the doubts of your mind.

If you do not believe in His Word, then you have squandered the power He has given us. “…when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you welcomed it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which also effectively works in you who believe” (1 Thessalonians 2:13).

The effective Christian is that saint that welcomes the Word of God.

Pray the Word. Pray the Promise.
