He Has You

You are so beautiful to God. He designed you and formed you and shaped you into who you are today. I pray that you would learn to see yourself as God sees you. He sees His own image reflected in you.

The Worldly Image

The devil partners with you in establishing your poor self-image. So long as you focus on your natural looks your true image is not going to change. “But we all…are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord” (2 Corinthians 3:18).

Don’t agonize over what you look like, but who you are. Stop trying to please man and instead seek to please God.

You are not called to become like the image of man, but of Christ. “For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son….” (Romans 8:29).

The world says you must look like someone else, lowering your self-worth such that you would pay anything to gain it back. Your worth is by His measure, not man’s.

The world looks to the outside for beauty, but God looks inwardly. “Do not let your adornment be merely outward…rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God” (1 Peter 3:3-4).

In the spiritual realm nothing ever decays.

Look into the right mirror when checking your beauty. Every wrong image of yourself is seen from the wrong eyes.

Only spiritual eyes can see spiritual truth.

The truth is you are a masterpiece in His eyes because He is the Master that made you. “For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb” (Psalm 139:13).

The Heavenly Image

I had a something like a vision one night that I was in heaven. It only lasted a minute or two as best I could measure time in eternity. It was so perfectly light there, a supernatural light, a glory light. Not a blinding light or a glaring light, but a light so complete that no shadows could form and no darkness could be present.

There was a large open fire in a giant bowl-shaped structure. The bowl was filled with orange flames that illuminated the surrounding court yard with color. By the fire were some large vase-like objects that were about 10 feet tall. I was very near to one of them.

The large vases were made with a metal-like pure white gold mixed with silver. The vases were perfectly clear, though I could not see through them because they had reflective surfaces. The surfaces seemed to be liquid, with an appearance of being wet, yet held together. The surfaces were perfectly polished so that every reflection could be seen.

Then in a split second it happened, I saw one glimpse of myself in a reflection. In that moment I saw myself as God will see me in heaven. I was beautiful and pure. I was loved and at peace. I was perfect in His eyes. I was a treasure in His heart. There was nothing ugly in me anymore. It was me in heaven.

“For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body…” (Philippians 3:20-21).

A single moment within a vision that pointed to an eternal reality in heaven. It is not how I see myself that matters, but my reflection in heaven that shows how Christ Jesus will see me. How I will be. How you will be. That is what God has in store for you and me.

Someday you will see yourself as in a mirror, and it will no longer be a dim mirror, but a perfect reflection of who you are in Christ. “For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known” (1 Corinthians 13:12).

In the Image of God

You are an eternal creature, designed in the image of God. “So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them” (Genesis 1:27).

God designed you perfectly. You are beautiful just as you are. Learn to see yourself with God’s eyes.

When you put yourself down, you are criticizing your Creator. “I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well” (Psalm 139:14).

The more of Christ Jesus there is in you, the more His image will be seen in you. “…we shall also bear the image of the heavenly Man” (1 Corinthians 15:49).

You are an image bearer, and that image is Jesus. “…put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him” (Colossians 3:10).

You wouldn’t be so self-conscience if you were more Christ-conscience. In however you look, in whatever is peculiar about you, know that you are beautiful and precious, created by the Lord Jesus Himself. “For by Him [Jesus] all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth… All things were created through Him and for Him” (Colossians 1:16).
