He Has You

You are meant to live forever, designed in the image of God. His image never ends.

You are made for eternity. “…He has put eternity in their hearts…” (Ecclesiastes 3:11).

You have the Word, “…that you may know that you have eternal life…” (1 John 5:13).

Eternity is not just a long time, it is in a realm not even bound by time. It is like finding the end of a circle, you never can.

Time is within eternity, but eternity can never be contained within time.

Don’t you know that an eternal God cannot be grasped by anything other than eternal perspectives.

The Word of God is spoken from the realm of eternity into our natural realm which is bound by time. This is why the Word lives forever, because it is spoken from the realm of forever. “The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever” (Isaiah 40:8).

Consider when you pray to God, that it travels into the realm of eternity.

Jesus is calling you. Answer the call and you will have the adventure of an eternal life. “that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:15).

Eternity is now. Eternity has already begun because it had no beginning and will have no end.

Eternal life does not begin after we die, but after we are saved. Jesus prayed, “And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent” (John 17:3).

Slow down. You don’t have to rush when you are walking in eternity.

Trading the temporary for the eternal

The trials of the day are only as big as the day but cannot compare to eternity. Stop only thinking “here and now” and instead think “there forevermore”. “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory” (2 Corinthians 4:17). 

Don’t look at God through your circumstances, but your circumstances through God. We cannot understand eternity from the temporary perspective, but we can understand the temporary from the eternal perspective.

The life that you have is not defined by the pleasures you have, nor the pain you endure, but in Christ alone.

Some things are for a time, but Jesus is forever. “And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son” (1 John 5:11).

Don’t consider heaven in light of your life now but consider your life in light of an eternity in heaven.

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope” (Jeremiah 29:11). The Lord said this as the nation of Israel was about to begin 70 years of captivity in Babylon. His promises are true, but not always immediate. Stand on His promises, not on your circumstances.

Never measure God’s love for you by your circumstances, only by His promises. He never promised an easy life on earth, but an eternal life in heaven.

Do not dwell on the body you have now, it is but the loaner. “…our citizenship is in heaven…Jesus…will transform our lowly body…” (Philippians 3:20-21).

Trusting an Eternal God

You can trust your future to the Lord that inhabits the future. “… the High and Lofty One Who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy…” (Isaiah 57:15).

Lord, you looked at me as I wondered about troubles ahead. And I heard this, “why all the doom and gloom. You are a child of God, and will spend eternity with Me. Where is the doom and gloom in that?”

The Lord has you for all of eternity, so why do you worry about a couple of days or a handful of years? He has you. “The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in from this time forth, and even forevermore” (Psalm 121:8). 

The eternal perspective reshapes every circumstance into His perfect path. It is our earthly perspective that will cause us to worry and to grieve.

God has known you forever. God knows everything you have been through and all that lies ahead. Trust the One who knows. David cried out, “When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, Then You knew my path…” (Psalm 142:3).

Our future is known by Him who is not bound by time, so trust Him in everything. Even those things that make no sense to you.

Preaching eternity

Preach to flesh, and when the flesh fails the message dies with the man. Preach to emotions, and when the feelings are hurt the message is wounded and saint falls away. But preach in the Spirit to the spirit of a man, then a seed is planted, a word is born, and the message is established in him for all of eternity.

In however we serve the Lord, whether by provision or preaching, there is a greater purpose. It is never to present the charity of man, but the grace of God.

It is not the temporal gain we should aspire, but in the eternal purposes for which we must labor. Eternity always trumps the temporal. “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand [before time began] that we should walk in them” (Ephesians 2:10).

Some preachers will be popular with men on earth, others will be honored in heaven.

Our focus with miracles is often in the temporal outcome. The Lord Jesus has a far grander plan, looking to the eternal outcome. If you must have a miracle in your service, let it be for eternal gains.

Preach eternity, and you are speaking into the spirit of the saint.
