Peace Like a River

I want you to know that you can have a life filled with peace. No matter what is going on around you, He can put His peace within you. But you must be in Him that His peace would be in you.

Jesus said, “…in Me you may have peace…” (John 16:33). The measure of your peace is the measure you are in Christ.

Peace is never found in things, but in Christ. Whatever you have, apart from having peace you will still be miserable. You cannot know peace apart from Christ because He is peace. “For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given… and His name will be called …Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6).

We ask for His blessings, but are we in a place where we might receive them? Peace is an end and obedience is the path by which we can get there.

The Lord said, “Oh, that you had heeded My commandments! Then your peace would have been like a river…” (Isaiah 48:18). Obedience comes first, then comes the river of peace.

Oh, don’t miss this! The fruit of godly obedience is the peace from God.

Your obedience to the Lord are the banks to the river of peace that would flow back upon your life. As you obey Him more, the river becomes deeper, with more peace coming back onto you.

Righteousness is so intimately close with peace, that they are joined together in the Word. “…Righteousness and peace have kissed” (Psalm 85:10).

Peace is a treasure that cannot be bought but has a value we cannot measure. You cannot acquire peace, but only receive it.

Never expect peace in disobedience. We are saved by grace, but peace comes by obedience.

Oh friends, what you do matters so much. In whatever you do, it is as if you are doing it to yourself. “The work of righteousness will be peace, And the effect of righteousness, quietness and assurance forever” (Isaiah 32:17).

You cannot live a life going away from Christ, and experience a life of peace in Christ.

Obedience is not by your strength, but the Holy Spirit strength in you. When once you surrender to Him, His life will then reign in you. “I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them” (Ezekiel 36:27).

What pours out of your heart fills the cup you will drink from.

“But the meek shall inherit the earth, and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace” (Psalm 37:11). The meek have an abundance of peace not from how others treat them, but how they treat others.

The more you love the Word, the greater His peace will be in you. “Great peace have those who love Your law, and nothing causes them to stumble” (Psalm 119:165). When you are in the Word, then the Word will be in you.

It is either the tragedy or the blessing in life, that people get exactly what they are looking for. You find what you seek. “…seek peace and pursue it” (Psalm 34:14, 1 Peter 3:11).

The prophet Isaiah said, “‘There is no peace,’ Says my God, ‘for the wicked'” (Isaiah 57:21). God never gives us peace in our disobedience, because He would never want us to stay there.

How much in Scripture, do we see righteousness and peace together! “…for the kingdom of God is…righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit” (Romans 14:17).

The peace from God is not for but a moment, but forever. “Then your peace would have been like a river…” (Isaiah 48:18). A river never stops flowing.

Blessings to you,

Paul
