The Crucifixion of the Christ

The greatest love story ever told was Jesus Christ, crucified for you.

Shortly before He gave His own life on the Cross, the Lord Jesus said, “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends” (John 15:13).

The greatest love story did not end with Christ on the Cross, rather it began with Christ on the Cross.

You can’t save you. His payment for your sin is plan A, and there is no plan B.

Jesus is not just your best chance, but your only hope. There is no other way. “…without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness” (Hebrews 9:22).

Argue doctrines as you will, but unless Christ crucified is at the center of your faith, you argue in vain.

Religion does not save you, Jesus does. The hardest ones to save are those who sit in the life raft of religion. Someday that raft is going to sink.

You can never be righteous enough. You can never have sinned too much. But know this, in Christ alone, for “…there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).

Never think you can add to the price paid for you, but only give thanks for it.

Never trample His blood by trying to be your own savior.

Legalism is man’s attempt to be his own savior. Nobody wins on legal grounds in God’s court apart from the grace found on the Cross of Christ.

Do you think that if there were any other way, that the Father would have had His own Son go through all that He went through on that Cross?

Jesus did it all for you on the Cross. He finished that which you could not even begin.

You cannot earn your way to heaven because the only currency God will accept is the blood of His Son Jesus. “…having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved…” (Romans 5:9).

You don’t find Jesus, He finds you.

You don’t gain faith, it is given to you.

Stop letting pride rule even in your salvation. Nobody deserves to be saved, and that is why it is called grace.

The Lord doesn’t give us a map, but a compass, and that compass is pointed squarely at the Cross of Jesus.

God does not grade on a curve but on the cross.

Religion is only complicated when you try to make it more than simply “Jesus died for you”. “For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified” (1 Corinthians 2:2).

If ever you wonder how something good can come from something so bad in your life, consider the Lord Jesus hanging on the Cross.

Your worth is measured by the price Jesus paid for you on the Cross. Never underestimate the cost of your salvation. “…you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold… but with the precious blood of Christ…” (1 Peter 1:18-19).

Stop beating yourself up about not being able to do what nobody can do, and simply thank Jesus for what He has already done.

Stop agonizing about how far you fall short, and start rejoicing in how far Jesus came down to save you. “…for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).

This is the foundational truth of our faith: Christ did it all on the Cross and we cannot add anything to it.

Jesus chose not to be saved, but to become the Savior.

If you have not done so recently, thank the Lord Jesus for all He has done for you. Our Lord Jesus, “…who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross” (Hebrews 12:2).

Blessings,

Paul

  2. Amazingly put… Simplified!!! Jesus Christ is the finished work! We can not add to or take away from it. We can only accept or deny! It is that simple…. Stop over thinking and just recieve!
Jesus is the Love of my life… I sometimes fall short with my part to him but he never does!
This is a gift of God’s grace and love may we open it every morning!!!

    1. Thank you Loretta! We have such a wonderful Savior! The other day I was speaking to my daughter and her ministry partner. We were talking about how to minister to the very young and I was suggesting to use songs. I was saying how all the theology we need in life is wrapped up in the simplest of lyrics, such as “Jesus loves me, this I know, because the Bible tells me so”!

  3. Thank you for you post it was perfect for how I have been feeling. I can come to lord just as I am I need to stop feeling guilty I have already been forgiven. Paul could you please pray for healing for my kidneys. Thank you God bless you.

    1. Oh yes, the Lord will take us just how we are. There is nothing about us from which He cannot forgive and to give us power to overcome.

Praying for a mighty move of the Lord upon your kidneys, that He would bring you the healing that you desire. That the same Jesus who healed the blind, the deaf, the lame and even raised the dead, that this same Jesus would heal you by His power and His authority and to His glory. May you rest in the knowledge of His unlimited power to do even more than what we can ask, so let us simply ask to Him in faith that He will do this mighty work.

Thank you Jesus, we love you Jesus.
