Please explain exactly the right way to honor God when fasting. Please give an example.
I am doing this to honor God by showing my love for him through fasting? I did not understand when you said don’t fast to show the lord what you are doing to grow in the spirit. I am fasting to show him honor by showing him how much I want to grow in the spirit. I’m confused.
I so want to grow in the spirit.

I think the error we can have in fasting is to make it a ritual or a process to twist God’s arm to gain something in return. He is not impressed with our sacrifice, He only wants our love and devotion to be for Him. Here is a verse that speaks to what He thinks of self-centered sacrifice: Zechariah 7:5 “Say to all the people of the land, and to the priests: ‘When you fasted and mourned in the fifth and seventh months during those seventy years, did you really fast for Me—for Me?”
But when we do fast rightly, when we truly want to honor Him and serve Him with all our being, fasting becomes a way of life that consecrates a saint unto the Lord in a way that can be done in no other way. Someday I would like to formalize a longer teaching I gave on fasting. It has great value to the saint who does it out of love. I wrote somewhere that if you fast to gain something you get nothing, but when you fast to get nothing you gain God Himself.

What happened since 2018 I’m listening in 2021.
I do need to get some more audio or video posted someday. I have been focusing my time on my books, which has been going very well.
